Best Western Regency Inn: CHEAP and NICE!

Wow...we got a suite here for $65.00!! It was amazingly cheap and in a decent location. Definitely easy to locate if you know the service roads in Mobile and honestly, a perfect central location right between Midtown and West Mobile.

They are just standard Best Western Rooms but for the price, it's definitely to your advantage to upgrade to a suite. Keep in mind that you will pay much more during Mardi Gras season...they were booking rooms up when we were there in mid-december. Bobby and I were satisfied with this hotel...not amazed, but it was comfortable and better than some hotels in the area

Country Inn and Suites Saraland: Just North of Mobile

Looking for an inexpensive hotel that was both close to downtown Mobile and about an hour drive from the Pensacola Airport I came upon this place. Situated about ten miles north of Mobile in a quasi industrial area the Country Inn and Suites at Saraland is not easy to find. The hotel is tucked behind several other hotels and is accessed by a long flag easement.

While finding the hotel was a little bit difficult staying in the hotel was very pleasant. From the outside it looks like any other Country Inn and Suites with their traditional three story stucco design. The front lobby however was very nice laid out. Inviting to the eye it also had a well stocked library of books that can be loaned out.

Front desk staff were very helpful and attentive. I particularly liked the fact that the staff kept a cookie jar well stocked at all hours of the day. Much different than other Country inn and Suites that only bring out a few cookies, if at all, and then in mid evening. I must confess i took advantage of this jar on several occassions over the two nights we stayed there.

The elevator to our room smelled heavily of insecticide. If we were to have been stuck in this elevator that it indeed would have been a problem. The room itself was small but clean. Two double debs allowed a little room to maneuver but not much. A clean microwave and fridge were also provided.

The bathroom while a little dated was clean. Lighting both in the dressing area and bath/tub combination was good.

The breakfast was pretty much standard fare. A selection of cereals, breads, muffins and a waffle maker. Hot items included sausage and powdered eggs. The breakfast staff was very pleasant but unfortunately many items ran out long before the breakfast closed.

The gym contained some old equipment that was hard to use.

We paid for our room in Carlson Reward Points. Two nights were only 9,000 points total! Doing some math that made the room an incredible bargain. All sad it was definitely a bargain and I would stay there again. Getting to downtown Mobile took less than 15 minutes even in traffic.

Very friendly staff made the stay enjoyable. Regardless of the hour staff were always helpful in providing information about the area as well as the hotel facilities.

Olssons Motel: Mobile's best Mom & Pop motel

Nice, clean, older (probably 50's) one story motel. Sits back from the highway & has a lot of trees, with a great 'back yard'. Pet friendly. Our Australian Shephard loved it! Owners are very congenial & helpful. We dislike "chains" & high rise motels & usually have a hard time finding the older ones that are Clean and accept pets.

Older, Mom & Pop type. AAA rated & I would highly recommend if this is the type place you like.

Clarion Hotel: Clarion Hotel

This hotel was near the center of town and was a great location between my cousins home and the historic district. We had to get 2 connecting rooms so all 6 of us had a place to sleep!! They have a nice pool and a small game room in the lobby for the kids.
