Top of the muffin to you...
by PA2AKgirl about Mostly Muffins
Another thing I think Mobile is lacking is good, local coffeeshops. Sure, they have plenty of Starbucks (that's a new development, too...there used to be just one in the Barnes and Noble) But if you're downtown, thankfully you have a great coffeeshop right there. Mostly Muffins is the only straight up cafe on Dauphin Street. Espressos, Lattes and...muffins! They have an excellent variety to choose from...unfortunately, they are not open on Sunday mornings. I like choosing between the different muffins. I am not sure, but I think they do change every day. I had a chocolate chip one that last time and also an apple cinnamon one the time before. The coffee is also good

Mobile Union Terminal
by keeweechic
A very grand building when it was opened to the public in 1907 where it served three railroads. It was originally constructed by the Mobile & Ohio but also saw service with the GM&O throughout the remainder of passenger services. It was last used as an office complex for the Illinois Central Gulf. Currently after many years of being empty and subsequently vandalised, renovation and reconstruction is now underway to make the building useable as a transportation hub which will combine bus, taxi, possibly a rail service into one facility. This picture was from the back - the front is even more impressive.
