This house, built in 1835, was home to Jefferson Davis when he was president of the Confederate States of America. The house was originally located 10 blocks away but was moved to the present site in 1921.
The house is complete with furniture and other items from the Civil War period, and is open to visitors for a donation.
the hank williams museum has a collection of personal effects of this famous country singer. hank williams (1923-1953) was a pioneer of the honky tonk style of country music. williams recorded county hits such as "your cheatin heart", "jambalaya", "hey good lookin"and scores more. hank williams had a severe alcohol and drug problem and died at the age of 29. for those who like country music and history the hank williams museum is worth a stop when in downtown montgomery.
