    Like Staying in a Museum

I ended up here on a referral from another B&B who couldn't take me when I needed to check out of the really bad Best Western Golden Lion.
What a lucky stroke. Run by a very kind and hard working extended family with a deep Alaska heritage and knowledge of seemingly everything and everyone! Filled with interesting native things!
Everyday was a delicious & different breakfast prepared and presented with care.
I was greatful to have a place to stretch out to do yoga and physical therapy as I was still recovering from a broken hip.
Local friends were concerned when I told them it was in a northerly neighborhood near Elmendorf Air Force Base, but don't be put off by that. It is quiet, cozy, safe & secure with beautiful gardens.

Unique Quality: Only those who appreciate the loving care that go into gardening and cooking local food should stay here. Home grown rhubarb, raspberries and currants, wild salmon, blueberries and birch syrup were included in my 6 breakfasts.
They are very careful to keep things chemical free, with a chemically sensitive family member. So, no perfumes, hairspray etc, if you choose to stay here.
There is a large living room for guests upstairs, with tons of Alaska literature and videos to watch, plus snacks, a small frig & microwave & office area.
It seemed they had every thoughtful touch and amenity one could want. Fluffy robes and towels, homemade soaps, hot & cold beverages, water glasses, not styrofoam cups, all types of literature and information on Alaska.
The price range I am quoting was off-season (early October). It would be competitively & higher priced in the summer and well worth it! My son stayed one night so we could catch an early tour one morning and it was only $10 extra!

Directions: 6th Ave turns to 5th Ave to Glenn Highway to Mountain View Dr. to Taylor to Richmond. In the Mountain View neighborhood.
