Highly recommended. . .
We were very happy with our stay here. We had a large, comfortable well appointed room with kitchenette (microwave, no stove or oven), iron and ironing board, hair dryer, basically everything you would expect and then some.
The only mild negative is that the hotel is a little bit removed from the very center of town. Still downtown, but on the east edge of downtown. Easy walk to the Anchorage Museum, longer walk to other Anchorage attractions.
We paid $129 double, plus tax, which is very reasonable by Anchorage standards.
Book early, this hotel is frequently full.
Unique Quality: Business center with three computers, printer and free highspeed internet access. Wireless internet access.
Breakfast with fresh fruit, waffles and baked goods included in price of room.
Swimming pool, fitness center.
Guest laundry facilities.
Free parking onsite.

Very good (and not so expensive) hotel in downtown
I rather stay at hotel than in hostel, that's the way is it. I like clean towels and good beds as well as privacy. This is why I spent many hours in Internet looking for a reasonable price hotel from Anchorage for Thanksgiving. And finally I found it, Aspen Hotel. This brand new hotel is located just in downtown and it is modern and prices include the breakfast. I have now been there twice and I'll stay there whenever I can.
Via Orbitz I get a good price, two nights with two double beds 100 $. There stay four people so it was only 25$ per person.
Unique Quality: In my opinion this hotel should be ranked more than three star. The staff is nice and hotel is new, clean and well designed. It is almost a perfect hotel and absolutely offer the best price/quality ratio.
Aspen is in dowtown and they have own shuttle, in case you need a ride to railwaystation or airport.
Free breakfast is terrific, it is better than many 7$ breakfasts in other hotels.
Pool and exersice room are a huge plus and the treadmill my favourite one. Rooms are big, clean and very very comfortable. There are even microwaves and DVD players.
Love this hotel. Hopefully they keep those prices low in future too.
Remember always when traveling in Alaska, that the winter prices can be even 50% lower than summer ones.
