Standard room at the Voyager by RickinDutch Have stayed at the Voyager many times over the years, although it has been a few years since my last stay here. It is a small, well run, family hotel that reminds me of a small European family hotel. Only three stories and not much of a lobby, the hotel's outstanding feature are the 40 huge, well appointed, guest rooms - with air conditioning!! Each room has a small kitchen area with sink, microwave, refridgerator, and coffee machine. 512KB broadband internet access was just added according to a frind that just stayed there last week (Jan 06). It's claim to fame is it was former governor Jay Hammond's home away from home when he was in town and away from Lake Clark. Great location just across the street from the Captain Cook Hotel. Very good, personal touch from all the staff. They get to know you and don't forget your name or your needs and preferences. A secure building, you have to get buzzed in after 11 PM. One of the finest restaurants in Anchorage, The Corsair, is located in the basement. If the Captain Cook is full, or I'm grumpy about their summer rates, I call the Voyager. If it was good enough for Jay Hammond - by golly, it's good enough for me. $89/night in winter and $169/night in summer (June-August).

Voyager Hotel, Anchorage by lizilex This is a nice hotel with comfortable, well appointed rooms. The location is unbeatable; everything in downtown Anchorage is within easy walking distance. Elderberry Park is a couple of blocks away, overlooking Cook Inlet and providing access to the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail. The only negative was that free parking was available only after 5 p.m. and until 8 or 9 a.m. the next morning, which was inconvenient to say the least. 40 rooms, entirely nonsmoking premises, free luggage storage, handicapped accessible. No pets, no pool. The restaurant in the hotel has an excellent reputation, but we didn't eat there so I can't speak from personal experience. We paid $179 double, plus tax, which passes for pretty reasonable in Anchorage.
