Eklutna Lake terminates a 10-mile road from AK-1 just a mile past the turnoff for Thunderbird Falls. Bathroom huts dot the campground, but dumpsters are not easily detected (if they exist at all). Even so the campground spreads out near the bank of Eklutna Lake but lies far enough back that the two are essentially separated. Each campsite has a fire ring and picnic table.
Gyroplanes, dog lovers, inflatable rafts and canoes are common sights around the lake, while frisbee tossing and quiet relaxation are typical around the campground.
