Pippin Lake B and B: Charming cottage!

Lovely little one-bedroom cottage with efficient heater. It is on the main highway from Valdez to Glenallen, not isolated in the woods or anything, but we loved it and wished we had booked more than just one night. It has a homey decor inside, moose-themed, clean and attractive and comfortable. The owner left us gifts of home-made jelly and some fresh-baked cookies. She lives nearby with her family. There is TV but no reception - there are a number of videos in the living room. The kitchen was stocked with food for us - eggs, bagels, cereals, milk, pancake mix, etc. However, the syrup was sugar-free, and the teas were all herbal/decaffeinated. It was $125 a night. (The prices VT lists below are per person.) Recommended.

Pippin Lake is in the back yard. It is very clean (no trash) and stocked by Fish and Game. There are a canoe and a paddle boat for you to use. Other guests wrote in the guest book that they caught fish, but we did not have that luck.

The location is good for exploring Copper Center (Mt. St. Elias National Park Visitor Center) or the McCarthy Road.

Uncle Nicolai's at Copper Rail Depot: Budget Motel in beautiful downtown Copper Center

New units renting from $59.00 nightly during tourist season. Separate bathroom, but nice, clean rooms in a very rural and historic environment.

Offers Showtime, HBO and other programming not available elsewhere in area. Uncle Nicolai's is part of the Copper Rail Depot complex--a small tourist-friendly, but local bar, which features a unique, large-scale historic garden railway. The historic photos alone are worth the visit.

The rooms are near the Klutina River--a well-known king salmon-fishing river.

Copper Center Roadhouse: Historical Sleep

Stay at the jewel of Alaskan roadhouses, the Copper Center Roadhouse. This establishment is National Register of Historic Roadhouses, and you can see why when you sail into this eerie little town, flashfrozen from the late 1800s.
