The rooms are large and comfortable, and there is an elevator. Ask for an odd-numbered room, and you will have a good view. The adjacent restaurant is quite good.
The hotel is on a hilltop with a long, winding dirt road up to it. There were wonderful signs at intervals—official-looking yellow diamond-shaped ones—My favorite driving up was the flying mosquito carrying a human figure. On the way down, at the bottom, “Freeway Ends.”
Unique Quality: A free hotel shuttle runs on a schedule and takes guests to the park HQ or to the small downtown. It is also a pickup point for the Park's tour busses.
Denali Bluffs is located in the "Glitter Gultch" area, a concentration of hotels, restaurants and a few shops just out side the National Park.
The Bluffs is slightly up a hill with views of the mountains and some of the park. Rooms are nice but somewhat small. Ours had 2 double beds and a sink outside the bathroom. Can't imagine 4 people in the room, it's pretty cramped.
Sister property is The Grande Denali Lodge further up the hill with incredible views.
Unique Quality: - Good views
- Nice balconies
- Nicely decorated
- Frequent shuttle service to other parts of "Glitter Gultch", the parks Visitor's Center and mercantile.
- Good restaurant on premises
- Alaska owned and operated
(Had a power outage one night for 3 hours. The other properties stopped serving guests completely. Denali Bluffs offered free cold cuts).
