Decent Cabin site

Very helpful staff who seemed to be all bulgarian, anyhow they were good enough manage to book us up on white water rafting trip within 10 minutes of us checking in.

We had a decent cabin for a couple of nights as we explored the National Park as best we could

There was a small shop with supplies, but you had to get across the road to the McKinley Roadhouse for something to hot to eat and a late drink.

Unique Quality: Look out for the stick your head though and look stupid sign near the front entrance to the cabins.

For Amateurs Who Think of 'Roughing It'

This little enclave is nestled against the Nenana River about eight miles south of the Denali entrance. Located at Milemarker 231 of the Parks Highway, you will find a small convenience store full of overpriced sodas and snacks and lunch-type items to carry back to your tent or cabin. Across the highway is the McKinley Village with its lodge and numerous "conveniences," which disqualifies the area for "roughing it" in the wilderness. Expect resort prices for your space here, and try to get out of your car once in a while.

Unique Quality: Situated by the fast-moving glacially-silted Nenana River, which offers rafting tours on different classes of rapids.

Convienent location outside park

I stayed at the campground portion of this place a few times and usually found it quite crowded. It's a very popular spot because it's the closest campground to the park's entrance. Many small tour groups stay here. Even though Carlo Creek was another 8 or 9 miles further from Denali's entrance, I still preferred it.

Unique Quality: It has a nice location on the Nenana River, but there aren't really any camp sites where you're far away from the highway. I haven't stayed in the cabins, but some seemed quite nice. Showers aren't included here and are coin operated.
