    • This place is adorable, convenient, fun, and affordable.

    They offer a free high-speed internet workstation, complimentary canoes, a full gourmet breakfast, and several types of rooms including jacuzzis in some of them.

    • Spent 4 nights here in May of 2003 seeing our son off to college at UAF. We picked it for it closeness to UAF and the low cost. We were pleasantly surprised at the high quality of the place and would recommend it to anyone. The common areas are very large, clean and comfortable. Our room was a little small, but cozy, well appointed and a spacious bathroom. Owners live on site and were friendly and helpful with directions and tips.
    Location is ideal, just two blocks from campus but in a quiet residential area. A rental car is still a good idea as Fairbanks is spread out over miles.
    Their breakfasts were innovative, varied and delicious with lots to eat. The one morning we slept in, the owners let us graze around the kitchen as a consolation.

    A great value for Fairbanks.

    • The hosts were very nice, and the breakfast was OK. But the floors of our suite had not been cleaned in weeks. One of the beds had not had a change of linens, but they were happy to provide us a change of sheets upon request. The free wi-fi worked poorly and only after I had determined that the documentation of the password and how to connect to it were wrong. We shared a 2 bedroom suite with our traveling companions, but there were not enough bath and hand towels for all.

    Very close to residential neighbors, so our porch overlooked their back yards. Dusty, unpaved driveway, right up to the front entrance. The enclosed steamer sauna/tub was a nice feature, but it served poorly as a shower. The general feel was a low-brow, low quality experience. Much better accommodations in the Fairbanks area for about the same cost.

    • We never actually stayed at the 7 Gables because when we got there, the owner diverted us to another of his properties at a different location. We had reserved a two-room suite with king bed, jacuzzi, etc. What we found at the other location was something completely different - a run-down little building in an overgrown yard next to a rusted out mobile home. Inside, the cramped unit reeked of cigarette smoke, had filthy carpet, mismatched furniture, and sloppily-made beds. The floor plan was completely different from the unit we had reserved. We called him immediately and told him we would not accept the unit.

    In reply, he told us matter of factly that we'd have trouble finding anything else as it was already after 6:00 p.m. Then he told us he had given away our reservation (made 6 months earlier) to another customer (the U.S. military) who was willing to pay him a lot more per unit. When we objected, he said, "Money talks!"

    We have travelled a great deal and had never before had our reservation given away. We have never encountered an owner who was so blatantly unethical in his dealings with customers. We advise that travellers avoid this place at all cost.

    • i stayed at 7Gables 3 times, made the reservation for the next one, probably will choose it again.
    price is good, stuff is helpful, management is flex, place is convenient. What do I need? 7-star hotel?

    My family did not have a good experience staying at this inn. I think it may have been different if we had stayed on the main property, but we were in the cottages and the cottage suite a few miles away. The first two nights were in the annex cottages and these rooms are not worth the price! The floor of the cottage leans badly and when we slept it felt like we were on an incline. The rooms themselves had no frills. (We don't mind staying at a place with no frills, but this was not a good value for this room.) Also, there is a trailer on the property where some workers (construction?) are staying and one of the guys paraded around half naked a couple of days. (Not a problem for me, but I would have preferred a different atmosphere for the kids). The suite was much nicer, but I'm still not sure it was worth the price we paid. Finally, the service we recieved from the owners was disappointing. The website portrayed this as a lovely inn, but it was not what we expected. There was a lack of communication between the owner and his wife, and he blamed me for the mistake in the reservation. Even after I explained the communications that had transpired between his wife and I he still insisted that it was all my fault. Thankfully, I had printed all of out correspondances, and was able to produce them for him. We switced to the suite, because they said they would up-grade us. Then they charged us for the up-grade. If you stay here, stay on property! Do not stay at the annex cottages!
