Fairbanks Alaska
"The Day before the Tour"
We arrived in Fairbanks a day ahead of our tour. We checked into Sophie Station Hotel and had dinner at their restaurant. OK when you have been traveling all day and don't want to go out.
The next morning we rented a car at Arctic RAC, with reasonable day rates and pickup and take back from the hotel.
We visited the UAF Museum and Geogeson Botannical Gardens at UAF. (See Photo) Afterwards we went downtown and had luch at the Iris Cafe and visited Pioneer Park. Dinner at Pike's Landing a short drive from the hotel and far superior food.
"The First Tour Day"
Our first tour event was to visit Discovery Riverboat Cruises for a cruise up (or is it down) the Chena River (See Photo). This is all put together by the Binkley family who run the riverboats and either have or contract with attractions along the way. It was very interesting and recommended. After lunch at the Pump House Restaurant (recommended) we boarded our bus, visited the Alaskan Pipeline Visitor Center and left for Denali
