Visit Totem Bight State Park. by margaretvn
In the Tongass National Forest is Totem Bight State Park, a former Indian campsite on the shore. It is the site of interesting sculptured cedar wood totem poles. There are six types of totem poles and each tells a story of the Tlingit, Haida or Tsimshian cultures. There is the house pillar, the memorial pole, the heraldic portal pole and the shame pole. A totem pole is read from the top downwards.
