Clean and comfortable
I've stayed here just once and found it a decent place. It surprises me that a town like Kodiak doesn't have an upscale hotel, but in any event, the Kodiak Inn is the nicest hotel in town. It is centrally located with an excellent water view as it is just high enough to take in an unobstructed view of St. Paul Harbor and the surrounding waters.
It is hard to get a room here so book well in advance. Stays busy all summer.
The hotel restaurant (The Chartroom) is the classiest in town, but I have had both good and bad food and service there. It is hard to want to pay those high prices when you aren't sure you have come on a good night or a bad. But you will enjoy the ocean view. They serve breakfast on Sundays that we enjoy going to once in a while.
The lounge area is also facing the water and a popular watering hole. Live music on Friday nights with Tim Snodgrass on acoustic guitar.
Unique Quality: Centrally located and a water view.
Directions: On the main highway from the airport to town. On the left just as you enter Kodiak proper. Parking is hard to come by.
Convienent to the Harbor
The Kodiak Inn, known locally as the KI, is a Best Western, and is conviently located in town for those who want the ammenities the town has to offer.
Directions: Good view of the harbor
