Nome's Classy Hotel

I used to be employed at this hotel, so I know a little more about it than the major competitor.

Wow, the Nome Nugget Inn is by all the most interesting location to choose in Nome - the lobby and hallways have items from Nome's "Gold Fever" days (late 1800's through early 1900's). There are also items and photographs of the infamous Diptheria Epidemic back in the 1920's, and if you can take some time to look around at all of these things, you'd be surprised at what you can learn about Nome's history - it's almost like taking a visit to the local museum!

The hotel rooms are kept clean and tidy, and when checking in you have the choice to be placed in a smoking or non-smoking room. Although some rooms are a bit small for comfort, they have a feeling like your own bedroom. A television with basic cable is included, along with free local phone calls.

The staff are friendly, the room rates are much less expensive than the major competitor, and there's also several businesses located in the same building!

Unique Quality: Directly across the room from the front door of the hotel, there is a small and quiet public bar, "Gold Dust Lounge," that also has the same 'gold rush' feeling to it. If you are in the mood to relax while sipping on your favorite alcoholic beverage (a soda is fine too!), this would be the bar to 'kick it back' at. From this bar, you are able to peer through the large bay windows out to the Bering Sea.

Zig-zag down the east hallway, you can reach "Fat Freddie's Restaurant" that serves some tasty food along with excellent milkshakes! Sit by the windows and you can have a beautiful view of the Bering Sea while enjoying your meal. This restaurant is also easily accessable by the front door, which is located in the east-side of this building (you'll see a sign with a man's face wearing an orange hat winking on the front, left side of this building).

Through the restaurant, you can also walk right into another public bar that is a little more upbeat, though comfortable. That one's called "Bering Sea Saloon." In the front of this same building, you will see a sign that show's a woman dressed in a short, red 'can-can' dress smiling and dancing - that's when you'll know where the front entrance of this bar is located.
