After we had spent part of the day
exploring Camp Verde and the
area, we stopped for awhile at
the Cliff Castle Apache Casino.

We had a great time, good food,
and yes, we won some $$$$ ....

"A Little Town - Alot Of History"

Located in the geographical center of Arizona, Camp Verde is the oldest
settlement in the Verde Valley. The town and surrounding area is full of
history with a rich Western rural character. Camp Verde is home to historic
Sinagua Indian ruins, Fort Verde the Verde River.

There is plenty of family and adult attractions featuring Montezuma's Castle
National Monument, Montezuma's Well, Fort Verde, Yavapai Apache Cultural
Center, Out of Africa Wildlife Park, Verde Canyon Railway and for night life,
the Cliff Castle Casino ......

"Montezuma's Castle"

Montezuma Castle National Monument

This 12th Century Sinagua Cliff Dwelling is
the best preserved in all of North America.
This 5 story, 20 room dwelling served as a
"high rise apartment building" for prehistoric
Sinagua Indians over 600 years ago.

It is one of Camp Verde's major attractions with
823,489 visitors touring it per year. The Montezuma
Castle was proclaimed a National Monument in
1906 and was described as:
"of the greatest ethological & scientific interest" ....

Past and Present Information:

Comprised of the descendants of the Wipukyipai
(Yavapai) and the Dil zhee (Tonto Apache) peoples,
the Yavapai-Apache Nation is a federally recognized
sovereign Indian Nation. Both tribes have a long and
ancient history tied to the Red Rock country around
Sedona, Oak Creek Canyon, the mountains to the
south and west, the White Chalk Hills of Camp Verde,
and eastward to Clear and Fossil Creeks.

Today the Nation uses its trust lands fo residential,
commercial and agricultural purposes. Tribally owned,
Cliff Castle Casino has made a positive impact on the
Nation?s people. Programs created as a result of the
casino have helped supply services to the elderly, provide
educational opportunities, foster long-term economic
development and much, much more ......
