Fairfield Resorts Inn

by jsciallo

Anyone every stayed here? I hear it's a two-story resort, reputedly with "priveliges" next door for their health club and pool. Can anyone let me know what to expect here?
We are coming out from Pennsylvania May 13th and are staying for a week. Anything anyone can offer by way of some info will be happily appreciated. And I really enjoy all the input about this cool city! Can't wait to get there.

RE: Fairfield Resorts Inn

Hi, I live in Flagstaff and even though I have not stayed at the Fairfield, I hear it is an OK place. It is basically a group of condos. It is near a residential area on the east side of town off HWY 40. The club you are talking about is pretty nice. Has a great outdoor pool ( which is scheduled to open mid May, maybe sooner depending on the weather) and an indoor pool, steam room, hot tub, racketball and the usual weight and arobic stuff. It is walking distance from Fairfield. If you golf, there is a driving range and a golf course close by. When your time gets closer, take a look at Flagstaff LIve! I bet they have a website. It comes out on Thurdays and gives the weeks events. Flagstaff is a great place.

Hey Shelly......thanks so much for the info...I'm kinda new to "VT" and I have found the folks on here so accomidating and helpful. I hope you may recieve the kind of informative and helpful assistance yourself someday, that you have given me.
By the way, CAN'T WAIT TO GET TO FLAGSTAFF, we drove past on our way to Phoenix about three years ago, and I have been dying to come back for a real visit. I know we're gonna have a great visit.

Travel Tips for Flagstaff

The Open Grazing Concept

by VeronicaG

As we drove through the countryside towards Meteor Crater, we noticed cattle grazing in pastures running alongside the highway. Well, that's not so strange you might think.

However, there were no fences to be seen because Arizona has an open grazing policy.

Signs cautioning drivers that calves may be wandering the roadways, seemed so odd to us Northeasterners. We put fences around everything!

This AZ snowbowl offers this scenic sky ride which breathtakingly awesome..It take you to the tallest peak in AZ which is called the San Fransisco Peak. The beauty about this is that when you reach one can actually see some snow. The weather up ther was 40 degrees and it is 11,500 feet high.

The San Francisco Peaks near Flagstaff support the Coconino National Forest. Just minutes North of Flagstaff at the base of Mount Elden there is a sign on highway 89 for the Elden Pueblo ruins. The ruins are still in the process of being excavated. It was interesting to see archeology in action here after visiting other ruins that had already been excavated.

MUSEUM CLUB on Old 66 (East side of town). Historic 'roadhouse' on Old 66 offering country music in historic setting. As I recall, it's the largest wooden building of type in Arizona and is often called the 'ZOO'.

Country music , live music on weekends, and many a star or star to be has played or been here over the decades. Casual and or Western

Another Dara Thai :)

by Galaktycka about Dara Thai

Dara Thai is a very cute, fun restaurant with delicious food. All of the wait staff seem to be attractive, young, outdoorsy types (typical Flagstaff). Their lunches are inexpensive, and their large windows offer a nice view of the streets outside. I really liked the dark atmosphere in the evening as well. Their salads have a delicious peanut dressing, and their Evil Jungle Priness (red curry) is fantastic! I second another's opinion on the heat of the food--it's not overpowering, but if you like spicy food you won't be disappointed.
