cheap but reasonable
I read positive reviews on this place, and got it a pretty good price, so I booked a night.
I was put in a room at the back of the motel on the first floor. This provided isolation from the typical motel noise, and there were no windows outside of the hotel, which has been a problem for me in the past at older places. The room was about what you'd expect at any cheap motel. I was surprised though to find a fairly large fridge and a small microwave in the room. Full cable TV, free local calls, but no phonebook (I'm sure someone just stole it).
The clerk running the place (she was there when I checked in and when I checked out) was very nice, and even made a reasonable effort to try to help me find some streets on a map. There's a little breakfast in the morning including some surprisingly good coffee.
The best part of this motel is its location. Milton Avenue is basically Route 66, and there's a lot of shopping and restaurants within walking distance. It's less than 1/2 mile from Downtown, which offers much in the way of nightlife and dining. It's also right across the street from NAU.
The downsides are the parking situation (get there early), the entrance (only one, which dumps you onto a smaller street right as it hits Milton and a traffic light), and the lack of wall outlets in the room. Other than that, I was impressed, and would have to say that this is probably the best no-name Route 66 motel in Flagstaff, and even beats out some of the chain places.
