Sunset Crater National Monument is a collection of about 20 long dormant volcanoes located about 15 mi north of Flagstaff. The tallest volcano is Sunset Crater, but the trail to the top is closed due to concerns about erosion.You can climb Lenox Crater, a long-dormant volcano. Its about a .5 mi (steep) hike to the rim. Or take the lava trail, which is a one mile loop that heads to the foot of Sunset Crater.
