Arizona Mountain Inn

by star8

Has anyone every stayed at this bed & breakfast place? I'm eager to find out how this place is, since we're planning on staying here for a couple of nights while visiting Grand Canyon.

Thanks

I don't know this B&B. Only a general advice: Looking for accommodation in Flagstaff means you have to decide between the noise of the interstate and the noise of the railroad. So make sure they have soundproof windows.

Travel Tips for Flagstaff

Museum of Northern Arizona is...

by silvia-m.b

Museum of Northern Arizona is really one of the best museums to visit in the state. Don't forget to look outside the museum the Spanish sculpture with a horse and a conqueror. Also you can do a little Trail seeing several interesting flowers and plants.

For a Sunday drive anyday.

by caffeine_induced78

You would think that after driving 1200 miles to get here that the last thing I would want to do is go for a drive. Well - that's what I did. I made a day of driving down to Montezuma's Castle National Monument on Interstate 17 and then came back on Hwy 89A through Sedona. Sedona is a great little town that has had an amazing growth spurt in the last couple of decades. From Sedona you head North about 30 miles through a shaded canyon back to Flagstaff. Being about 2500 feet lower in elevation than Flagstaff you end up getting a lot warmer temperatures than Flagstaff.

View across Walnut Canyon at...

View across Walnut Canyon at some of cliff dwellings. One reason some of the walls are not well preserved is that Walnut Canyon was a picnic spot for people of Flagstaff decades ago. Those people set dynamite to the walls of some of the dwellings and blew them apart looking for treasure.

Do you love sushi and tepanyaki??

by mboshart about Sakura's

Sakura's offers the best of both worlds: cooked and uncooked! My husband isn't a sushi lover -- but he LOVES the tepanyaki and the fun of sitting at a Tepan table watching the chef create a masterpiece. I love sushi and the edamame (soy beans). At Sakura, we find what we both love in an atmosphere thats fun, but the dim lights and decor make it romantic at the same time. So if you love Sushi and/or Tepanyaki, Sakura's is the place in Flagstaff to go! I love it all -- but the steak and chicken combo tepanyaki is a great dish, especially when created with the fried rice -- it's amazing watching the chefs cook it up for you right there at the table! But I do love sushi, and their spicey tuna rolls and softshell crab are two of my all time favorites!

Coffee With Extras

by Basaic about Wicked AZ

There was a little coffee kiosk in the same parking lot as the Americana Inn. It is called Wicked AZ. I am pretty sure it is supposed to provide "great cofffee with personal service". They also usually hire young attractive women who dress a little sexy. When I was leaving for dinner I spotted a very attractive Hispanic woman in a low cut blouse working there. I decided to go back after dinner. When I went back there was a much less attractive girl in a short dress. She was not very friendly; but the coffee was good. I may go back again and hope the Hispanic woman is there. The girl offered a special on a triple latte carmel something or other and looked at me funny when I said "just a plain coffee". It was good coffee.
