Jumping Around Fountain Hills, Fourth TALLEST One!

This is what I love about Arizona --- there's so much to explore!

I have heard about this very large fountain at Fountain Hills - supposedly the 4th tallest! And so, one Sunday (May 31, 2009), we decided to drive to it and wow, the community is awesome!

Great Park! Great Houses! Very classy...

Definitely a nice place to visit when you are in Arizona...the twins enjoyed the park even with the 100 degree weather --- the rolling hills and nice green grass and, of course, the water park helped ease the solar pain from the summer heat...

Javelina Happy Hour!

"Flora and Fauna"

We were told that we'd see wildlife out the back door of our condo in Fountain Hills. Almost at the end of our stay, we say this guy...a lone coyote wandered through the trees just below the porch.

"Javelinas Everywhere"

The next day, we came back from an afternoon at the pool and I was summoned back into the kitche by Dad's exclamation of "Javelinas Everywhere!" We proceeded to watch for a while as a group of javelinas (15-20 of them!) rooted in the rocks, layed in the sun and generally were slightly scary, prehistoric looking pigs.

To get the true alliteration, you should know that the word "javelina" is Spanish and said with an initial "h" sound instead of a "j."

"Don't Feed the Animals!"

They were on their way back up the hill to their entry point when we heard a dog barking. Contrary to our instant assumption (that they'd run), the javelinas returned down to the rocks at a trot. We quickly understood why when a nearby window opened an food was thrown out to them.

It wasn't really a problem at all that they were being fed. We learned that this group regularly visits the complex for snacks.

"Mama Java"

I will quickly admit that I was most enamored of the baby java-lets. There were 3 of the little guys wandering around and they were treated with care by the others.
