    I stayed in June of 2008 at one of the Bright Angel Cabins. We were only 50 to 75 feet from the edge of the rim! You don't have to go far to check out the sunrise or sunset.

    The next morning at 6 a m I walked down the path to the edge of the rim and I was startled by a noise behind me. It was a mule deer. She took her time walking to the edge and then slowly went down the rim into the steep canyon.

    The rooms have a TV, my room only had one bed (double), small fridge. You are paying for the viewand location! It was worth it for one night.

    Right by the rim.

    We stayed at the El Tover Hotel on day 12 and 13 of our route 66 Road Trip ( not on Route 66 I know but so close ) .We arrived late in the afternoon and were shown to our room, which was on the ground floor.Help with the bags so much appreciated after a long drive from Winslow.The view was disappointing as any view of the canyon was obscured by the front porch of the hotel.Being just a stones throw from the canyon edge we were hoping for better.However I am sure some of the rooms would have a great view.Right in the Grand Canyon Village so loads to see and do.If arriving by road there are good sized car parks and if arriving via the Grand Canyon Railroad the station is moments away.

    The restaurant was superb ,we ate in the hotel both nights of our stay. You really need to book as there are tables by the window that look out over the canyon and these get booked pretty soon.However we had one table in the middle without a view and the next night right in the window.Anyway the food is excellent and the service good to what more could you want.There is also a terrace looking across a lawn to the canyon where you can sit and chill out with your favourite companion and enjoy a drink.

    Since I had saved a bunch of money camping, when the opportunity came to stay at El Tovar, I thought why not.

    What I found is that one could probably enjoy some of the niceties of the hotel without having to stay there. I would recommend just taking a walk through just to see what it is all about and save some money. This is moreso since the room was average and only a few of them actually face towards the canyon.

    Although pricey, the El Tovar was relaxing. There are a couple porches where one could sit back and relax. Also, the second floor has a piano, and at night there was some relaxing music playing. The interior, like that of the Bright Angel Lodge, has a western theme.

    As mentioned above, I would recommend taking a tour of El Tovar, though stay at another lodge or hotel and then put the saved money towards a good meal!

    I didn't stay at El Tovar but I bet you would know a lot fo the famous peopl who have.

    A great gem on the Grand Canyon's rim. If you want to stay here you had better make reservations at least a year or more in advance.

    If you can't get a room, do yourself a favor. Walk through the El Tovar. It has a lot of geat history and I liked the stuffed boar's head among other animals on the wall.

    History, a lot of unique things to look at inside.

    The best hotel at Grand Canyon and an historical place as well. Located at the South Rim of the Canyon, El Tovar Hotel offers superb accommodations within the park itself. Try to get a room vith the Canyon view and hope for a night of thunderstorm.
