Yuck!
Let me start by saying that my husband and I are pretty low maintenance. If a place is clean and relatively quiet, we are happy. We booked this place because it was substantially less expensive than staying in Tusayan or the Grand Canyon lodges.
This is ~20 miles south of the South rim entrance...that didn't bother us. However, the minuses started adding up right away:
--air conditioner leaked on the floor all night, producing soggy carpet in the morning
--housekeeping knocked on our door at 7:30 AM, thinking we would be out of our room so they could do housekeeping.
--no fitted sheets + bed liner = miserable nights sleep with bunched up covers that wouldn't stay in place (how expensive is it to buy fitted sheets?)
--hotel restaurant had terrible service and less than mediocre breakfast...we didn't try the rest. A curtain rod fell on a group of Japanese tourists during breakfast
--windows didn't seal and wind whipped noisily through them the 2 nights we were there.
--provided shampoo and conditioner smelled like men's cologne...Drakkar noir or some such?
However, the fare was reasonable for this area ($80/night weekday on season), and the gift shop was amazingly well stocked.
Unique Quality: Across from "Bedrock City" Flintstones campground, restaurant, etc....great gift shop.
