Non-chain motel with personality
I read the reviews and they are mostly right -- both the good ones and the bad ones. It is an independent hotel in a neighborhood of chains (albeit their on-site restaurant is a chain) which gives them the latitude to have their own personality and they do. I'm in the midst of a week-long stay (for business) as I write this. Good: I make my own bed every day, but the housekeeping staff re-make the bed and I believe I'm getting fresh sheets every day. Bad: The bathroom smells of cigarettes every day when I come in. The bathroom also lacks a ventilation fan. Is the smell coming from another room? Or do the housekeepers smoke as they make up the room? Good: Free Wi-Fi, fast and works smoothly, no outages. Bad: Even with all the lights on, it is too dim to work easily in the room. Good: comfortable mattress, not a bug to be seen or felt anywhere. Yes there is traffic noise, but white noise from the AC/Heat/Fan easily overcomes it. Decent size fridge (the 3-ft tall kind, not the super-compact kind). A slightly threadbare feel to the room and furnishings, but fresh interior paint, new window and door. A decent room at a decent price. If you want luxury, pay for it (somewhere else).

Convenient Location for RV and Truckers
We were dropped off at this motel by the tow truck operator, and so feared for the worst. Actually the Silver Queen proved to have many benefits for those RV, Truckers and others simply passing through town. We paid a rather modest rate for a non-smoking room where we could also keep our small dog. The room was clean and functional, and had a TV and free WIFI. The Silver Queen is within walking distance of numerous RV and Truck repair shops, as well as a broad selection of fast and corporate food restaurants. Laundry and swimming pool are also available, although we didn't take advantage of either of these. Taxi ride to the historic downtown, on the opposite side of town, is less than $10-. Service by Silver Queen and the Kingman taxi were cheerful and excellent.
