Lake Havasu in January

by bjandhenry

My wife and I are thinking about spending January in Lake Havasu however are not quite sure if there is anything going on that time of year.
Any comments....how about country bars?

There is no justice in Havasu. DO NOT come here. The city attorney and the local Magistrate have turned Havasu into the modern "speed trap".
the visitors here have started a saying "come to Havasu on vacation, leave on probation"
Magistrate Andreas convicts upon arrest and the police arrest for anything minor or even just "assume" a law was broke.

Travel Tips for Lake Havasu City

Cattail Cove: Whyte's Trail

by Basaic

Whyte's Trail is 1.5 miles each way and follows the shoreline of Lake Havasu, providing an excellent view of the lower portion of the Colorado River, the Whitsett Pumping Station and Parker Dam. The shoreline portion of the trail ends at Whytes Retreat (called Dog Beach by some), one of the boat-in campsites. The trail is very short "as the crow flies" but since it follows the coves and inlets it seemed longer. The views along the way are spectacular. There is also the McKinney Loop portion of the trail which returns to Cattail Cove through low desert hills and a shallow gorge with bluffs on both sides. To reach the trail follow the entrance road to the boat launch ramp. The entrance is next to the boat ramp. Good walking shoes, plenty of water, sunscreen, a hat, weather appropriate clothing. Mayve a snack.

Lake Havasu

by hotlipz

"Even in September it was HOT!"

Lake Havasu is a very strange place. It took us about four hours to drive there from our base in Las Vegas and I have to say it was well worth it. We decided to visit on a weekeday and it was incredibly quiet ( I believe it's a really busy place at the weekend with the lake being a focal point for family and water sport fans). In fact there were some sad examples of how not to run a tourist destination with a lot of closed down shops and parts of the lake cordoned off. Even the English red phone box looked a bit tired. We didnt have time to explore outside of the actual lake area so there may be a lot more to it but I just felt that it was a tiny oasis in the middle of nowhere (and so many car dealerships on the way there). For me though, just seeing the bridge, walking over it and seeing how well it's doing in America was enough for me.

"London Bridge"

What can I say! I was filled with pride as we walked across London Bridge, this was a truly amazing bit of british architecure and engineering which has survived it's transportation to America - and how! I have to say though it was a darn site hotter than it would ever be in London, England!
