We took a short drive to the Superstition Mountains, just east of the city. The mountains were pretty, and the scenery quite nice, except for that winding road. Ended up getting quite quesy, but I survived. Quaint little tourist attactions along the way and at the end of the road. Yes, you need to turn back and do the winding road again to get back to the city.
Watch Theatre performances in Mesa Arts Center

What I like about the Phoenix Metropolitan Area is that there a several affordable theatre seats available. The cities, Mesa included, have devoted time and money into attracting the artists to live, stay and perform for the citizenry.
To show our support, we buy tickets or donate directly. The Mesa Arts Center has state-of-the-art facilities and as my family was walking past today, they had Celtic songs and ballads coming up...and there's several plays in line which include a lot of dancing and even symphony concerts!
Truly a great box office addition to this wonderful city of Mesa!
Call their TOURS hotline 480-644-6626 for FREE Public campus tours! They do need a 24-hour adavance notice though, and the tour included going to all the theatres, arts studio, Mesa Contemporary Arts and the Shadow Walk --- about 60 minutes of free tour so wear nice comfortable walking shoes...
Family Connections

Mesa is a nice suburb of Phoenix. Liz has many relatives that live in Arizona and many cousins in this town. Mesa is a nice community with plenty of shopping, parks and things for families. I can understand the draw to rais e a family here...the schools seem safe and the kids seem happy.

"Weekend in Mesa"
Went to Mesa to attend a meeting. I was amazed at how flat everything was. You can see for miles. I come from a place where you indicate directions as "towards the mountains" or "towards the ocean", so being in the middle of the desert with no mountains and no ocean was a new experience. The city is laid out quite well, and it's not difficult to find anything with a decent map.
The area is growing so rapidly that it's difficult to tell where the boundaries are between Mesa, Tempe, Scottsdale, and Phoenix. The towns have all grown together. Very nice place, and I can see why people move there. Nice place to retire or to lead a quiet life.
