Travel Tips for Nogales

What is public library in the USA?

by matcrazy1

Public library is surely a building or room which has a collection, esp. of books, for people to read or borrow without payment (public means that it's paid by tax-payers, usually paid by city or county).

It seems that public libraries in the USA are much more public organizations/institutions than only a place to read/borrow books. They offer free internet access for at least up to one hour. They organize and/or promote various cultural events. For example the library in Nogales organized children's story hour on Wednesday mornings as you can read on my picture.
I liked a lot a few public libraries I was lucky to visit during my USA trip.

Look up

by matcrazy1

Whenever you look for food, gas and/or eating while driving in the USA - look up to find commercials.

There are a lot of commercials "in sky" = on tall poles in the USA. In Nogales as well - just to be well seen from far distance while driving. That's why I could easy find my accommodation there: Motel 6.

The same in most European countries, btw does this idea derive from the USA? I think so.

Everything against heat and sun!

by matcrazy1

No bags in hot summer except one for your camera, good (safe) pockets (or comfortable belt) instead. Small city rucksack for warm winter.
Light clothes (shorts, T-shirts, better too large :-) made of natural materials (cotton) for warm/hot days all year round.
Sweater/pullover and/or jacket for cold evenings/nights (from September till April especially).
Shoes? Oh, yes - you should have them :-). Sandals, trainers or good walking shoes.
Add sun glasses.

Check the 10-day forecast for Nogales:
The Weather Channel Good sun protection cosmetics with high UV filter - use them BEFORE or just after you leave your car. Be prepared for large contrasts between sun and shadow - sun filters recommended. Add hmm... how do you call it in English - something fixed to your camera objective to protect it against sun - not comfortable to carry but necessary, I suppose. A cooler (an ice chest) with ice cubes and cold beverages inside :-).

La Cinderella

by matcrazy1

Look at my picture - this building is called La Cinderella. It was built in 1909. It houses a retail store with... a lot of strange, fairy goods including gifts on a groundfloor now.
This pink building is located in Nogales downtown on the right side of a one-way street called N. Morley Avenue.

Address:
148 N. Morley Ave.

North Grand Avenue

by matcrazy1

It's the main, quite busy one-way street of Nogales downtown. There is Pimeria Alta Museum at 136 N. Grand Avenue - museum of local history. It's housed in old Town Hall built in 1914.
