We spent some time at Marriott's Desert Ridge Resort for a business conference. It was such a relaxing three days! As you pull up, valets are waiting to assist you. Inside, an expansive lobby awaits as you check in. Then take the escalator to a second tier seating area below(picture 3) where comfortable leather chairs and couches are located. I thought their dining choices were extensive: Ristorante Tuscany (Italian/ dinner) Blue Sage Restaurant and Marketplace (Southwestern/breakfast,lunch & dinner) Just A Splash Bar & Grill (American-open for lunch) Roy's Hawaiian Fusion Cuisine (Fresh seafood and sushi/opened for dinner) Spa Bistro (International/breakfast & lunch) Starbucks Cafe (serving pastry and coffee/ breakfast and lunch items) Meritage Steakhouse at Wildfire Golf Club Vista Lounge-(lunch and dinner; martinis their specialty) There are 950 guest rooms, including 81 or so suites. The nicely appointed room provided down-filled pillows and luxurious bedding (picture 2). It offered cable/satellite tv, in-room movies, mini-bar, iron, ironing board and safe for our belongings. Some suites featured fireplaces, microwave ovens, and refrigerators. Room service is available to all guests. The spacious bathroom, held spray jets, separate tub and shower and hair dryer. Fluffy white bathrobes were tucked away in the closet! The concierge desk was ever busy booking sightseeing tours. A full-service business center and safety deposit boxes at the front desk are available. Outdoors, a swimming pool (picture 4), lazy river (picture 5) and jacuzzi. Other activities were a biking trail, jogging and fitness trail; a nature preserve trail; hiking, sauna and tennis. The resort had two fitness facilities: The Revive Spa and Fitness Center. I think golfers would find the Wildfire Golf Club especially nice. This hotel had everything it takes to make your stay a pampered and delightful one! | | | | Pointe Hilton Squaw Peak Resort: Full of Kids Compare Rates NEW! | Tip Rating: Satisfaction: | | | | |
The Pointe Hilton Squaw Peak is huge. Finding the main entrance was our first adventure, but once we found it we were treated very well. The front desk service was wonderful, and my Hilton Hhonors Gold status was recognized, where in many business hotels, it seems to make little difference. Were upgraded to a Casita, which are smaller structures with 3-4 townhouses - Living room, mini-kitchen (microwave-only, no stove) and 1/2 bath downstaris, bedroom, full bath and pretty large deck upstairs. There was also another bedroom with an ajoining door that we didn't have access to - but would be a great add-on for families.
The River Ranch is a "water park" strictly for use by hotel guests. Depending on the package you buy, the River Ranch may be included, or you may have to pay to use it. It's nice because it's on site, but it's not really that big, if you compare it to a commercial water park. Most likely because of the water park, this is popular place for families. Don't expect an adult environment. If you want any kind of peace and quiet, do not eat in the Hole in the Wall - although they do have a good breakfast : ). The Lantana Grille is geared more for adults, but didn't like the breakfast as well - although the coffee was better. There is a gym and spa on site. These can be used by the general public for a fee, and you may or may not have to pay to use the gym (and take classes) depending on your status with Hilton. If' you're looking for a true spa experience, go outside the hotel. My friend and I each got a massage, and while my muscles still benefitted, it was the least relaxing massage I've ever had - it was more like a hair cut. No atmosphere & the masseuse chatted the entire time. Also.... you'd think I would have learned this lesson by now.... Don't trust the Concierge for restaurant recommendation. While the places she suggested were nice, they were not what we described, or were chains. How much creativity does it take to recommend a chain? There is a great Italian restaurant w/i walking didstance of the hotel - Tutti Santi. The Concierce did recommend it, but I'd read about it beforehand, so wanted to try it anyway.
