Hot desert
I love to go hiking in some of the mountains that are all over the place. But you have to bring water or you will get heat exhaustion. When I stood in the blistering heat with a winter coat that I had just purchased. Great fun

I'm traveling to Phoenix next week for the Imaging USA conference- Would like some suggestions on unique fun restaurants with good food of course!
Would like suggestions for Mexican, Sushi, Italian, and any other restaurant that shouldn't be missed while we are there. I always enjoy restaurants that aren't considered chains, don't really want to eat somewhere that I can eat at the same place here at home!
I work at a hotel and we have quite a few options we recommend:
Cafe Boa- Gourmet Mexican, Wonderful
Lons at the Hermosa - GREAT southwestern cuisine. Considered finer dining then normal, but well worth it with beautiful views. www.lons.com
Elements Restaurant at the Sanctuary - More beautiful views... American cuisine with Asian accents. Delicious. Finer Dining but worth it again.
Pizzeria Bianco - Usually a 1 hr wait, because it is notorious and featured as one of the best pizza places in the United States on Oprah. But there is a nice little wine bar right next door. It is more gourmet style pizza. Wonderful!!
Tomaso's - Italian restaurant very good.
Our guests NEVER complain about any of those options! I hope this helps! You will have to let me know if you choose one!! :o)
Thank you!! I will let you know where we end up eating!
Keep them coming!!
Wow, someone else knows Cafe Boa. Excellent food and great atmosphere. You must try the Gnocci.
T.Cooks at the Royal Palm is great too. The new Stone Rose at the Fairmont is very nice.
Fun nightlife, not sure of the food is at Barcelona also check out Kazimiers wine bar.
Not sure if the Mondrian still has the Italian Bistro from when it was the James but it was really good. The Bar there was a very popular spot

"Well-preserved cliff dwelling occupied in 13th and 14th centuries by salado Indians farming Salt River Valley. Most visitors come in winter. when climate is more temperate. The monument lies above 4,000 feet, however, and receives some summer breezes. Visitor center. Indian ruins, exhibits, self-guiding trails, picnic areas, camping in nearby Tonto National Forest. Day use area only."
Maloney's is very down to earth and has quite a crowd... usually. It really is a great place to meet up with friends for a night on the town and it's a good stop while bar hopping. If you are looking for a your 'Cheers' kind of place in Old town Scottsdale, Maloney's is it! But if you are looking for the Scottsdale Scene, I would look in a few other places. don't show up in cut-offs or overly- casual clothing. It's nightlife in Scottsdale. Not a seed-y Pirate Bar!
this place reminded me of a south beach in terms of its decor but certainly not its attitude. The service was friendly and the food was great. The restaurant has surprisingly "diner" style comfort food meals such as mac and cheese and meatloaf, which seem out of place with the cool setting. But there are other options and the seafood is great.
Not much to look at, BUT...wonderful smell, wonderful taste, wonderful food! Cuban buffet includes salad, entrees, and dessert. It's ALL great, but if I had to single one dish out it would have to be the black beans and potatoes.
