Gas station nearby Sky Harbor International Airport

by vtveen

I have to return my rental car at the Rental Car Center of the airport (located at 1805 E. Sky Harbor Circle South) and need to fill the tank before I return it to avoid a huge gas bill.

Is there a gas station close to the Rental Car Center.(I'm with Hertz) ??

The closest, I think, is at I-17 and 7th Street (an Exxon, I think), which is just west of the rental car center. There's also a Circle K with gas on 16th Street at Jefferson. It really depends on the direction you're coming from.
In my experience though, the tank doesn't have to be overflowing to not get charged. I've gotten 60 miles out of it before without it going off of "F" and never turn it in with less than 20 miles on the full tank. Just something to consider.

Two URLs to know about

by PR-7

They will allow you to search within a map area (like around an airport) for the best gasoline price. They will also let you know what hours the stations are open and whether they take credit cards.

I can't recall the station at which I filled up, when I rented a car from Sky Harbor four years ago, but these URLs found one within a mile or so of the aiport with prices significantly lower than average.

Be sure to get a receipt -- if the rental company claims the tank wasn't filled, you'll have proof you got gas just minutes before returning it.

Travel Tips for Phoenix

It depends on the time of...

by Fezz

It depends on the time of year! The summers are so hot there are things you may not want to do! Summer: Go have lunch at Bank One Ballpark! There is a TGIFridays inside go sit on the balcony and watch The Diamond Backs practice! Even if you don't like baseball its awesome! Spring: Go to the Botanical Gardens! Fall: Drive up to South Mt.! there is a road that takes you all the way to the top!(what a view!) Winter: Go Hiking, the weather is great and its the time to do it! Go to Fountain Hills and watch the giant fountain go off! My wife and I bought our first home in Phoenix! I got to play golf at The TPC of Scottsdale! (just like the pros)

Eat and Play Organic

by Tippecanoe

For those who love organic food, organic farming, intuitive readings, and massages, visit The Farm at South Mountain. The restaurants are AMAZING and The Retreat has a group of very talented woman who teach yoga, give massages, and offer other holistic pampering techniques. Have breakfast at Morning Glory Cafe and dinner at Quintessence. The deli up front is great for lunch and a fun place for families to have a picnic. Quintessence is really romantic. In the evening (if it's not too hot) go out back to enjoy your dessert and after dinner drink. The garden store at the Farm is wonderful but a little pricy. The Farm is not open during the hot summer months.

Best place to run into a celebrity...

by dshinkle about Axis/Radius

This is a place where beautiful people go to hang with other beautiful people. In front of the club you will see $200,000 cars and long lines to get in. Axis is a restaurant and lounge, which draws a fairly upscale crowd. hen you're done with the restaurant and the bar [Axis], you just go next door to the club [Radius].

Axis/Radius offers 2 floors of high-energy dance spins from some of the top DJs. The house gets packed around 10pm and shakes all night long. As always the case in Scottsdale, parking is tight, get there early or shell out a couple extra bucks for the valet (its worth every penny). You can spend all night jetting from one side to the next. The crowd is mixed 20s to early 30s. Great service, great people, good fun. Dress to impress. This is a classy place!

Wings and Sports nothing better!

by LaceyAdkisson about Buffalo Wild Wings

When you walk in it has TV's everywhere! Usually with the popular fight or Basketball game on that night. Any table is a good table. I prefer the high tops. The wait staff is friendly and the ambiance is like a Hooters and a beer pub.
They have AMAZING specials as well! Like 20 cent wings or 99cent chicken strips, and the draft beers are VERY reasonable.
The next UFC fight or football game I'll be looking for a buffalo wild wings! Wings were defiantly my dish of choice, with all the varieties of sauces and spicy levels of taste, they hit it right on the nose! I have to say there chili cheeses fries weren't half bad either! A little on the greasy side, but made my beer slide down even smoother :)

Chinamex fusion: flavorful and fun!

by razorbacker about Chino Bandido Takee-Outee

Beyond description, but they'll give you a number of samples so you can decide. Each combination ($7.25) comes with two choices of entrees, one choice each of rice and beans, and a delicious cookie. This place is so fun it's handed down by generations! Entree-wise, probably the Jade Red Chicken and the Veggie Quesadilla though the Jerk Chicken and Emerald Chicken are good, too. As far as the rice and beans for me there's no contest: jerk rice and black beans. Forget the diet, and DON'T forget the chocolate volcano cookie (weekends only.)
