Stayed here two weeks and would definitely stay here again and recommend it to friends. My room was clean and everything was completely functional. For some, the age of the furniture and appliances might fall short of fancy, but everything was in perfect shape and immaculately maintained. The two-story building appears a little newer than the one-story; my room was upstairs and had a full kitchenette (full-size fridge with freezer, electric oven and range, sink). If you stay a week you can get the cheaper weekly rate but even at the daily rate it beats other Tempe accommodations hands-down. The only catch is that sometimes you can't make reservations far ahead of time.
Unique Quality: 20-minute walk to ASU campus along either Apache or Terrace. When the light rail line is completed it will go right past this hotel and connect it with downtown.
Directions: east on Apache a few blocks past Rural, on the south side of the street across from the Food City shopping center
$30-40 for two people per night
Unique Quality: Charming motel near Nita's Hideaway. Not much in the way of views, but does have a swimming pool. It is pretty cheap for Phoenix, especially in the summer. It is run by a woman who is Greek, I believe. The rooms are clean & big, we seem to always get one with a kitchenette, so I'm asuming they all have one. This can be nice if you're on a budget & want to 'cook at home'.
