Grand Canyon in X'mas

by MissingLosAngeles

Hello,

I am driving to GC during the holidays and just figured out it is snowing there. But I dont know how much snow will be accumulated on the roads.
My question is, do I need an 4WD or snow chains for this trip?

Thanks.

I don't know that that much snow has accumulated up there at this point as it's been fairly warm off and on (cold now). However, roads are generally plowed and salted after a snowfall and there's really no way to surely tell if there will be any on the road or not at this point except by what's forecasted.
If you're really worried about it, get chains and then, if you don't need them, no big deal.

Thanks.
I will take a regular 2WD sedan and see if i can rent the snow chains around that area.

Travel Tips for Phoenix

Phoenix is becoming an array...

Phoenix is becoming an array of cultures. It weighs heavily with cultures from Mexico and SouthWest overtones. The people are friendly but the highways, during rush hour, are packed with road raged drivers.

Great Food

by changeinlatitude about Cooper's Tpwm

What a fun place and great food. The portions are huge. There is indoor and outdoor seating and from what I understand, it is quite a happening place at night.

If you are into baseball memorabilia, you will enjoy looking at Alice's collection throughout the restaurant. There are plenty of TV's, so you can watch just about any sporting event happening at the time.

Check out the shop and make sure you get a t-shirt. Grilled chicken sandwich. The fries are WONDERFUL!!

Bamboo Grille Nice Asian Restaurant

by AVG2319 about Bamboo Grille

Near the Movie theater and within the shopping center. Nice spot to stop and eat. Bar area. Food is good and staff are nice. I love orange chicken, sesame chicken, i just love asian food :-) They have a bar area here and used to have a huge fish tank, but not sure if that is still there. Orange Chicken, sesame chicken, hunan beef -all is good here.

Touring Model Homes

by brd2005

Forget the museums or desert vistas, the top must see activity in Phoenix should be touring model homes. Phoenix, having surpassed Atlanta as number one housing market in the nation, has spectacular master planned communites with loads of model homes decorated to the max . You can visit them for free and get ideas for decorating your own home! Many of those places offer free cookies, coffee and drinks, so you might as well grab something to eat for free. I recommend Aviano in Northeast Phoenix with 20 fully decorated upper end models. In the West I recommend Verrado and in the Northwest Vistancia. There are other communities to explore, just look in the real estate section of the Saturday edition of the Arizona Republic paper. On top of everything you may like one of the model and end up buying a new house, enjoy!
