Budget accomodation near bus route

by susanpingu

I am considering taking the Red Line-Metro Center bus to Phoenix Sky Harbor Intl. Airport. Which lower end hotel/motel/hostel is closer to the bus route for this purpose and in general terms of getting around without a car? (I've heard the taxi rates are high and I travel really light). Thanks.

I don't take bus often so I don't know any hotel on the Redline bus route. You can check www.valleymetro.org to see where red line bus stops are. Or you can find a budget hotel first then get Supershuttle to pick you up to go to the airport. As for the cost, go to www.supershuttle.com. Hope this info helps.

Casual clothes like tees and shorts If you are interested in nature and photography then this definitely a place for you. The sunsets here are very beautiful and every evening the sky looks very beautiful and nice bcoz of the different sunset colors.

Try a Michelada and the tableside prepd guacamole

by HippieFur about Barrio Cafe

(Barrio Cafe) Fantastic... unassuming little place... but once you walk in, you realize its not gonna be your standard tacos and chimis.... its a hip little place, and the wall are adorned with an ever changing variety of beautiful mexican american paintings, which are also for sale... Barrio means nieghborhood, and the local art and small size, with its hip n loose feel, make it a true corner of phoenix....

Now for the grub... its fantastic, but not without a price... that aside, its worth it. Everything ive tried is fantastic... chef Silvana Salcido Esparza is an acclaimed mexican cuisine innovator.... there are traditional dishes like mole and posole, both well done, and some original twists, like the crab and chicken torta..... the dishes featuring oaxacan cheese like the relleno pablano come loaded in good, rich mexican cheese... portions are large, drinks are fantastic, like the margaritas... they have excellent fresh fruit margaritas too... I recommend a Michelada, which I was introduced to on a trip to cuernavaca.... Definately get the tableside guacamole... Its unreal... they add pomegranet which works very well for some reason...

This place is not only authentic, with a slight fusion twist... The food seems modern, yet traditional.... its hip, sheik, yes, its a bit pricey... but trust me.... If you wanna see real Phoenix, and do it first class, check this place out.... Guacamole, micheladas... margaritas..... pablano relleno, the red pepper soup.... the mango shrimp salad, and anything with crab and mexican cheese... but, its all good, in my humble opinion...

Country style cooking

by spartan about Black-Eyed Pea Restaurant

Country style cooking for those who want a hearty, rich meal (large portions for a good price) and remember to save room for dessert. Try the Grilled Chicken Salad with honey mustard dressing and a side of Tequiza to wash it down.

The Heard Native American Indian Museum

by lovemycacti

This is a good place to start if you're looking to learn about Native American Indian culture. Since my family is from the largest Native reservation in Canada, I can tell you this is a good representation of our vast and varied cultures. My only complaint is that I should have visited when an event or performance was taking place, you can check their website for details.

Perhaps I've been spoiled by the many Native American museums from where I live, so while this museum didn't give me the "wow" factor I'd still highly recommend you give it a go when in the Phoenix area.

Daily 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

New Year's Day, Easter Sunday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

Note: The museum will close at 3 p.m. on Christmas Eve.

General Admission*:
$7 Adults
$6 Seniors (65+)
$3 Children 4-12
FREE for children under 4, Native Americans with proof of tribal enrollment and Heard Museum members
