Travel Tips for Prescott

water sellers

by Jonathan_C

One of the ways you can tell the quality of a town in Arizona is by the quality of their water sellers. With an average humidity of 9% you need to drink a lot of water to stay hydrated. People selling water on the sidewalk is a normal part of life in this state. In Prescott we found this well dressed young man outside his father's store selling bottles of water for 50 cents each. He was doing a community service more than making money. Contrast this with the tatooed 30 year old selling bottles for $1.50 in Tempe and you'll know what I mean when I say Prescott is a 'Norman Rockwell' kind of town.

The Smoki Museum

by Basaic

The Smoki Museum of American Indian Art and Culture is another fine museum located in Prescott. It was built as a replica of a Hopi Pueblo and houses very nice displays of art, jewelry, pottery and other cultural items. Admission is $5. Hours are 10 AM to 4 PM Tuesday through Saturday and 1 PM to 4 PM on Sunday. The museum is closed on Mondays. They have special events throughout the year so check their website. There is no photography allowed inside the museum.

I want to call Prescott "home", someday...

"Prescott - through the years"

See my "Hotel Tips" for places to stay in Prescott (1 as of March '05 -- more to come...)

The first time I set foot in Prescott, Arizona was January 1981.

A lot has happened and changed over the years.

The last time I spent the night there was in Sept/Oct 2004.

Was there on a day trip in Feb.

Prescott / Prescott Valley

by SnowAngel

My very first visit to Prescott Valley was interesting at best, but since then I have grown fond of Prescott and the Valley. Devils Thumb provides for an experience that seems to transport you to the time of old westerns and the beautiful Court House gives a Civil War feeling. Prescott may be little in size but large in impact.

More to come......
