Yes, I know, "historic" what do you expect. The lobby and restaurant are very nice and have the genuine historic feel to them. From the lobby, you have to be able to climb 3-4 stairs to get to the elevator...which does NOT have an attendant. Only hotel staff are allowed to work the elevator so you have hunt for one. If you can't wait, you have to climb 2 flights of very steep stairs with your luggage. Not for anyone that can't climb stairs - we never read anything about that when researching the hotel. The rooms are definitely "of the period" and have not faired well. Rooms are small and a few have obviously had the bathroom added. We changed rooms immediately upon check-in just to get the sink out of the bedroom! We've stayed at other historic hotels, but this was the shabbiest room we've ever had. Definitely would not stay again.
Unique Quality: Lovely period lobby and restaurnt...great food. Within walking distance of all downtown.
