The Yearlings Sculpture
This beautiful bronze sculpture caught my eye right away. Hmmm, wonder why?:) It is sculpted by George-Ann Tognoni 1985 and is located in the Scottsdale Civic Center Mall (Brown Street & Scottsdale Historical Society Museum).

could anyone familiar with this route advise us driving instructions from the phoenix airport to camelback resort in scottsdale.
besides golfing, what day trips could be undertaken to explore the historical and cultural places within easy reach of the above resort.
and of course we would like to try our the domestic food favourites. any suggestions please.
regards
musaphir
The Camelback Resort is at 63rd and Camelback....just take the 44th Street exit from the airport and head north about 5 miles until you hit Camelback Road. Turn right...east...for a couple miles and you will see it. The street values get higher as you go east, so it should be an easy find.
The concierge should help with day trips (like jeep tours or balloon rides) and downtown has a number of great cultural activities and museums. They are putting in light rail, so construction is a bear downtown, but can be navigated.
There are scores of places to eat near your hotel. I would read the Scottsdale restaurant review section as you are right on the border of Phoenix/Scottsdale. Visit the Waterfront (about a mile away) for great shopping and 6 new restaurants.

this is a very small place that i discovered by accident. it is a good place to eat while you are cruising the part of scottsdale known as "old town." it has approximately 10 seats at the bar, three tables for four people, and three tables for two people. there is a huge selection of liquor, beer, and wine.
it seems very much a neighborhood place; many of the people when i was there seemed to know each other. service is fast and friendly. basically, they serve sandwiches, hamburgers, and other casual food.
on sunday, they have a breakfast buffet from 10 am to noon.
from sunday through thursday, they have dinner specials starting at 5 pm.
from monday through saturday, they open at 11 am.
i forgot to ask, and could not find anywhere, when they close on any of the days! i had a half-pound bacon cheeseburger (plus fries, i think, i can't remember now) and a soft drink for approximately $11.
I ate at an amazing restaurant with my father called A Different Pointe of View, located 1800 feet up on the Tapatio Cliffs just outside of Phoenix (and on the grounds of the Pointe Hilton resort). The food was amazing, and the restaurant rather upscale (despite the corny name). I couldn't find any proper pictures of the place, but the views are spectacular.
Tilapia, carp and catfish are available for fishing in Scottsdale!
I remember having caught hundreds of catfish while we were living by the lake in Southern California - but I always returned them to the water most of the time!
Kids who are under 13 do not need a license to fish! The Chaparral Lake is stocked with trout and catfish twice every month. And it is open everyday from sunrise to 1030PM
DRIVE or WALK THRU the OLD TOWN SCOTTSDALE area.
SCOTTSDALE ROAD between CAMELBACK and INDIAN SCHOOL ROADS, lots to see and do. Souvenir shops, dining, galleries, lots of shopping, VERY UPSCALE
This area and BILTMORE area among best, most expensive shops.
