More about Kings Ransom Sedona Hotel
Luxury at a bargain price...nice upgrade
What a difference a year makes! We stayed in this hotel a few years ago, and found it rather dreary...although the location was great We heard it was being remodeled and decided to try it again... The rooms are great now, the grounds are beautiful, there's internet with computers in the lobby, so we didn't have to bring one! The lobby is cozy and warm. In short, the hotel is now more like a boutique hotel. And the great thing is the rates are still very low. What a bargain. Very nice.
What a great family friendly hotel!!
While traveling around Arizona with our family of 4 and my brother and his wife and daughter, we decided to visit Sedona for a couple of days. We had not made reservations for the night and hoped to find a good hotel. We drove past the Kings Ransom and decided to give it a try. What a great hotel . Our rooms were wonderful, very clean, Great beds, wonderful bathrooms and a balcony with the most gorgous view. The grounds were very well maintained and the landscaping was outstanding. We wish more destinations had wonderful small hotels like this one for families not wanting to spend $200.00 a night. To the owners of Kings Ransom--- Great job! We will recomend this hotel to everyone visiting Sedona.
Great Setting, Great Hotel, Great Value
It was a welcome sight for three weary travellers looking for a room for the night. We didn’t have a lot of contact with the staff, but the room was excellent. Comfortable, good size beds, spacious, with a balcony and very clean. The pool was also very clean, and no one told us off when we got in an hour early in the morning (we got the time zones mixed up!). Bathroom was a bit small, but all the places we stayed were the same. Some nice touches by the housekeeping staff showed that they were paying attention to detail. Check in and out was efficient and cheerfully handled. I would definitely go back.
Not Really Impressed
I booked this hotel based on travellers reviews describing the renovated conditions, as well as the hotel's website.
Overall, I was not impressed.
Our room was clean, and on the positive side, there was a nice Jacuzzi bathtub. Also the outdoor pool and hot tub were decent and cared for.
However, as for room renovations, either I was not in an updated room or the improvements were limited. The bedding was classic chain-style hotel bedding, not the new, comfy style most places seem to be going.
The restaurant is still closed, and although the hotel expects to offer a continental breakfast in the future, they were currently not serving this nor giving any rate discounts for lack of it.
I was informed by the front desk, twice, that it was impossible for me to use my room phone to access 1-800 numbers. Someone had either better sort this out, or sort out the staff person I spoke with, because this is completely unacceptable.
Use caution when booking hotels in Sedona; I don't think many are worth what they charge.
A Good surprise!
This was a vacation saver for us , we had been booked to go to Flagstaff for 5 days but after the first night we realized we didn't want to spent anymore time there, there wasn't much available anywhere but we happened to come across The Kings Ramsom in Sedona and what a "great surprise"!! we stayed the rest of our vacation there. Great staff, very clean and large rooms, nice grounds, this is true about renovations going on but we never heard or even noticed it. More then helpful staff and great rates for Sedona. Enjoyed our stay very much and would recommend to anyone.

A nice, leisurely place to stay
This property was picked because of the reviews on this site. The room was clean and big. I had booked the Executive Room with King Bed just so that I could have a private balcony.
The room itself is too big for two persons but nice. The bathroom had a jacuzzi that worked well. We were very satisfied with the amount paid. The Executive Rooms are in the back of the motel and by themselves. Apparently not many persons were there that weekend. We were on the second floor and fortunately there was no one below us because the floors creeked a lot when we walked.
The view from the balconies is a parking lot and a mountain range-way off to the right. I would recommend this place. It sits south of the center of town-near all of the art galleries.
The rating is only 4 points because while the room was very good and the amnenties nice, some fixtures were not working properly. It didn't create a hardship, it just lacked.
Room comfortable, view great, staff still learning the ropes
I stayed at Kings Ransom in early August with a couple of friends for a girls trip.As previous posters have noted the Hotel is under new ownership. When we first got there they could not find our reservation. They said they were using a new computer system. After a few minutes they found it and gave us the choice of having an executive room or a normal room with a great view.
We choose the great view. The room itself was fine. It was clean and comfortable. There was a sliding glass door that lead to a shared porch. There was a table and chairs by the door of each room. This was nice as we had an amazing view of the beautiful Red Rocks of Sedona. This door also lead out to the pool and hot tub. Both were refreshing after hiking all day. The lobby had free internet access which was a plus. Besides the initial mix up with the reservations, they seemed to have problems with routing phone calls to our room. The front desk said this had to do with the problem from when we checked in. Once again they blamed the new computer system. They were never able to get this fixed for us. The third day we were there we returned to the hotel to find that the water in our room was out and everyone on our side of the hotel were moved to different rooms. They upgraded us to an executive room. The room was bigger than the previous room. It also had a nice jacuzzi style bathtub. However it did not have the amazing view our previous room had.
Despite the mix ups (which hopefully will get worked out in time) my friends and I agreed we would stay again because it was in a good location, clean and a good value.
clean, quiet, adequate
I chose this hotel for location, positive reviews, and value. It consists of about 6 or 7 standard adobe two-story buildings. We stayed in one of the Executive Rooms and were given the choice of ground floor or second floor. We chose second floor; be prepared to carry your luggage up stairs and ramps from the parking area. All rooms have outside doors, more like a motor lodge than a hotel. The room was large and included a sofa, desk, refrigerator, ironing board and iron. The bathroom had a shower and whirlpool tub combination. The window in the bath opened directly into the shower and looked out onto the walkway. There was a large balcony with a table and two chairs through a sliding glass door on the opposite side of the room from the entry door. The king-sized bed was comfy and although the sheets were of the low-thread-count variety there were multiple pillows available. The desk clerk seemed a bit tentative and could not even give a recommendation for a restaurant for dinner, nor did he have a local restaurant guide he could give us, although they DO have a binder with menus from many local restaurants at the desk. There are two computers with printers available to guests in the lobby. The morning I needed one to print boarding passes I found neither of them would connect to the internet. The clerk said I could go next door to the Comfort Inn and try theirs, which I did.
The pool area is really quite lovely and not crowded when we were there. You must use the towels from your room at the pool. The alarm clock in our room did not work, and was promptly replaced. There is a fitness center which we did not use. The restaurant is not open.
Overall, our stay was pleasant and quiet and the second evening we walked to Hillside Sedona, a nearby collection of shops and restaurants. I highly recommend Shugrues Hillside Grille at Hillside Sedona for EXCELLENT food, the best service we had in Arizona, and a marvelous view of the Red Rocks. Try the outdoor seating if it's not too cold.
Clean and good location
Fine hotel for Sedona there are so many place to go and see no hotel will be the perfect location for all. This hotel is adjacent to a boutique shopping and a couple restaurants - the complimentary breakfast was much better than most continental breakfasts offered in most hotels. Rooms were clean and water pressure was strong...perfect after a long hike!
