"Perfect!"
Greeted by nice staff. Room was immaculate. Balcony view was outstanding. Enjoyed swimming in the sparkling pool with the red rocks as a back drop. Walking distance to shops & eateries. Couldn't ask for more..."perfect!"

There are many lovely hotels and Inns located all along Hwy 89a, but this one is right down smack in the middle of the uptown shopping/restaurants area. I thought that was pretty cool. You could see so many patrons just sitting on their balconies enjoying all the people watching. I know when we drove into town from the 89, we were amazed of all the night life and colorful lights each of the buildings had. Plus, right behind this Inn has an open parking lot that we were able to find parking. All the other public lots were filled to the brim, but not this one. Now each side of this Inn has balconies, although one side does not have the view side of the main street, but BOTH have spectacular views that are awesome.

Just returned from a trip to the Grand Canyon and Sedona. We stayed at the Matterhorn Inn for two nights. The room had a great view of the red rocks. Clean, well maintained. This inn is pet friendly. What was nice was that the room we were given had no pet odor whatsoever unlike some other pet friendly hotels we have stayed at. The only knock I have for this hotel is be prepared if you have a first floor room that you may hear your upstairs neighbors walking around. There was a family with two kids staying directly above us. We heard them in the morning when they were jumping around. Despite that I would recommend this inn. It was close to everything.
This is one of the nicest, moderately priced, older motels we have stayed in. My wife and I, both in our 60s, stayed in the Matterhorn just after the Memorial Day holiday and enjoyed the accommodations. The staff is friendly and efficient; the rooms are good size and fully equipped and maintained. The very central location and great vews from the balconies are excellent. While this is an older motel and does not have all the most modern niceties, such as wireless internet, it has all the basics and many little touches that experinced operators provide and that we appreciated. All was very well maintained. It would be difficult to find a better value.
Deciding we wanted to spend another night in Sedona we were scrambling for a place to stay. This place is right in the heart of the action in Uptown Sedona. Centrally located, we were withing walking distance of many shops and restaurants and had a wonderful view of the mountains. It had all the amenities we needed and we were quite pleased with our stay here.
After hiking the Canyon and a long night's drive to Sedona, the Matterhorn was a welcome sight for tired legs and sleepy eyes. The room was large, with a great view of the beautiful red rocks, and was very clean. Our king-sized bed was extremely comfortable and we slept well in the quiet surroundings. The service was extremely pleasant and they provided excellent suggestions on places to eat (try the Coffee Pot Diner for breakfast, it is excellent) and shop. While the Matterhorn is not a resort quality hotel, it provides a clean, comfortable room with excellent service in a great location for a reasonable price.
It was difficult to select a place to stay never having traveled east of the Mississippi so I just went with the place with consistently good reviews. I have to say, the posted reviews were correct. The Matterhorn is a lovely, comfortable family owed motel. It was clean, warm, and the view was AWESOME. If I had to think of one thing that was not perfect, it was the size of the bathroom. But really, how much time do you spend there? :) I liked staying at a small intimate motel and supporting a person rather than a chain. If you want comfort, a reasonable price and a great view stay at the Matterhorn. You will not find a better value!
The owner was helpful in suggesting places to eat and things to see. We were not disappointed with his suggestions. The Coffeepot was very good and reasonably priced. The park (Cathedral Rock) offered great hiking for desk jockeys like me. It was a wonderful vacation. We will go back and we will stay at the Matterhorn again. I would reccomend it to anyone visiting Sedona.
We stayed at the Matterhorn Inn on our way to the 2005 Fiesta Bowl and found it to be above average in every way.
We picked it via a "drive by" and were attracted by the "best rates, best views" billing on the marquee.
The hotel really lived up to its billing with clean, comfortable rooms and balconies that overlooked the street below.
In the morning, we could lie in bed with the drapes open and watch the sun rise over the distant mountains. A great experience. And the price was very reasonable for off season.
We also made coffee in our room coffeemaker and sat on the balcony to watch the town come alive below.
The hotel was a quick walk to all the uptown shops and restaurants - another plus.
We liked the Matterhorn Inn so much, that we are planning a longer return visit during the coming spring.
Great views, good service, clean rooms, decent price, within walking distance to many shops, restaurants and galleries in the area. We booked there because of other good reviews on this site and we were not disappointed!
We stayed at the Matterhorn based on the Trip Advisor reviews. It was as expected. It is an older property that is generally well kept. The staff was friendly and helpful. The location is great! You can walk to all the shops and restaurants in the Sedona downtown. There is plenty of free parking.
The bad part was the noise in the room. The walls are paper thin. Unless you run the fan, which did cover the noise nicely, you hear everything going in the rooms next to you.
The views are as advertised and exceptional. All in all, the Matterhorn is a good place to stay in Sedona in our opinion. We would certainly stay again.
