Hotels in Tucson for a weekend.
by lilsoapspudz
Hello, I've recently moved to Tucson (and Arizona as a whole) and am now a student here. My Fiance's birthday is coming up in Oct. and I'd like to get a hotel room for the night for him and I (as a surprise).
I want somewhere nice, but not too expensive since minimum wage doesn't exactly make you rich :/
I'm really looking for a place with a pool (indoor or outdoor, doesn't matter), whirlpool, rooms with 1 bed (king preferably), and for the room's bathroom to have a tub (shower-tub combos work fine).
I've tried browsing around online, but find it somewhat to be a pain, hence why I came here. Thank you for your help, I appreciate it :)

How about a romantic bed and breakfast? Sometimes you can get more bang for your buck by staying in one instead of a hotel. We saw this place, but they were booked and we had to find other accomodations. It's a beautiful property:

Bed and Breakfast's are nice, however, not exactly his taste and the themes that (from what I've seen) all bed and breakfast's here in Tucson aren't appealing to me, so they don't work out well for us :/

Exactly how much are you looking to spend? $100?
It's unfortunately too late to get those great deals at the resorts in the Foothills.
Doubletree is actually a really good suggestion. It's usually fairly reasonable and it's very nice.
Holiday Inn Express's are really great, but not exactly romantic. Indoor pool with a hottub, but there are usually kids there. They don't exactly have the best locations either: Wetmore (next to a cow and pig farm), Grant and Cortaro (both next to the freeway). Usually about $100.
Also the Radisson on Speedway, Embassy Suites on Broadway, and they just finished remodeling the Hyatt Place on Tucson Blvd by the airport. They should all be about $100.
There's also the Hilton East (on Broadway just past Kolb), but it may be too expensive.
Thought about getting out of town down to Bisbee or something?
Travel Tips for Tucson
Palm trees at Tucson suburbs
by matcrazy1
I was driving to Tucson Downtown from western part of Saguaro National Park. There was a street with quite a lot palm trees. But it seems that there are less palm trees in Tucson than I could see in towns and cities at the Pacific coast in southern California.
Hmm... less water ----> less palm trees, I suppose.
Art to see and buy
by matcrazy1 about Blue Topaz Gallery
There are quite a lot of various galleries in Tucson. In Blue Topaz gallery you can see temporary displays of various artists. There were some paintings when I was there.
Hours:
9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Thursday
9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
Personally, I liked some minerals (eggs or something like this made of them).
Wonderful Mexican Restaurant
by mog1254 about Molina's Midway
Molina's Midway is one of the oldest family run Mexican Restaurants-and the aromas are the first thing that you notice when you walk in. The staff are always warm and friendly-and the prices are very reasonable for Mexican food. Try the Dr. Clarks Cheese Crisp--yummm Wow- Everything that I've ever gotten there is so good-so fresh and tasty, it's hard to make a single choice.
Guided Tour and Trails
by jnadler
This is something to see. There is a tram that will take you to the top and back if you choose. It stops along the way, so you can get on and off whenever you like. On the way up, there is a guided tour, and the tram stops and waits at the top so that the riders can take their pictures. We rode the tram all the way to the top, took our pictures, and then rode it part of the way back down, getting off to walk the rest of the way down. The path we walked had a lot of different kinds of plants, including mistle toe ;-)
There were also people there who were, despite the heat, jogging, riding bikes, and setting up picnics along the path. Our tour guide warned that there had been mountain lion sightings within the past year, and they give you instructions for what to do in case you meet one, but I don't think it was too serious of a problem.
