school field trips

by lokoki4

is there a charge for vehicles being used for school field trips to drive up the mountain?

Re: school field trips

by MikePinTucson

For Mt. Lemmon, you only pay a fee if you are stopping anyplace other than designated viewpoints. If you are driving right to the top, no fee is required. Here is a link to the Coronado National Forest website fee information

$5/vehicle for the day unless you can arrange something else with the forest service beforehand.
The exceptions for the fee are Summerhaven, Rose Canyon (a separate fee) and the ski area. Any other parking lots or trailheads maintained by the forest service (including the lot near the top of Mount Lemmon) technically require that pass, which is also valid at Sabino and Madera Canyons.

Travel Tips for Tucson

KITT PEAK OBSERVATORY

by zuriga

One thing a lot of tourists never see is the Kitt Peak Observatory south of Tucson. It has more solar telescopes than anywhere else on earth. Here's a place to cool off on a hot day - it's way up in the clouds. What I miss most when I'm away from Tucson is Bookman's. It's a used bookstore that is just fantastic. There are two locations. If you're a reader....take a look but prepared to stay for hours

In contrast to Europe

by matcrazy1

The parking places in Tuscon were much bigger than I used to see in Europe, at least in most European old towns.

There was no gymnastics needed when I got out of my car in parking lots in Tucson :-). We have smaller cars, smaller parking places and narrow streets in Europe.

Indie Record Store

by bottleofdoom

Can't have a 'home' page without a record store recommendation! Toxic Ranch is an independent store with new and used cd's and vinyl. Just about everything Bill stocks is on an indie label. Cool T-shirts, buttons, stickers, posters and zines also. I get alot of my lounge records here. My husband gets alot of cd's.

To Tucson by air

by matcrazy1

To get to Tucson except driving a car you can choose a lot of possibilities including by a plane to Tucson International Airport (TIA): direct nonstop flights to/from 16 major US airports.
