Halloween Events In Tucson??

by Aussiecouple7172

Just a couple of questions - we are an Aussie couple who will be visiting USA for the first time in two weeks time and will be staying in Tucson over Halloween weekend. Are there specific events on Monday night (10/31) or will most people choose to celebrate Halloween on Sat/Sunday night (10/29 or 10/30)?? We will then be departing to go to Flagstaff, but would love to be a part of the Halloween scene and figured it would probably be bigger in Tucson than Flagstaff. Are there any events that would be great for someone who has never experienced Halloween celebrations before? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards and thanks in advance,

Janelle

Nightmare on Congress Street. Saturday the 29th.
The bars open up with lots of people in costumes. It's a big party atmosphere.
This is the town with the famous Day of the Dead parade, so there are some really great costumes.

Travel Tips for Tucson

Enjoy the Mountain Vistas

by zrim

Mountains literally circle the city of Tucson. Some of them are awfully big like the 10,000 foot plus Mt. Lemon (did you know that you can ski at Mt. Lemon?) This photo is in the northeastern part of town looking north taking in a portion of the Catalina Mountains.

Soccer Fix

Famous Sams Sports Bar - Somewhere to visit when you need to watch a game or you're a long way from home and need to check out the results!

I muttered and twitched my way through the first leg of the Champions League Semi that ended 0-0. As it was lunchtime there weren't many in the bar so no atmosphere except the one I generated inside of me! I was too nervous to appreciate the chicken teryiaki burger.

I could have done with returning there for the 2nd leg as the ranch only had a pc with no sound card and I had to endure the worst 90 minutes of any match following it with text updates. Never mind the result was worth it 1-0 to the Reds and on their way to Istanbul to bring the trophy home to stay. A cold glass of something and some good food.

Mt. Lemmon: Just a 35-mile drive from Tucson is this retreat in the pines. With an altitude of 8,250 feet, Mt. Lemmon provides winter skiing, a chance to see the leaves turn color in the fall and a way to cool off during the summer months. There are numerous gift shops and restaurants to enjoy.

Try the Mexican Fast Food

by latinwithwings about Nicos

Don't expect this mexican fast-food to be anything like TacoBell. The salsa is hotter and the burritos are bigger. Honestly, I can reccommend anything they have on the menu. Super Nachos but usually share with two people because they are so big.

TUCSON FAVORITES

Tucson has too many good restaurants to pick just one. My favorites..so far.. are Cafe Terra Cotta and Zen Bistro. Gallagher's is great for steaks and seafood. Want the best sandwich ever? Try Beyond Bread. For a lovely outdoor brunch, the restaurant at Tohono Chul Park is perfect, and they also serve an afternoon tea. A nice change of pace is Panda Stir-Fry.
