Roadrunner

Driving along Arizona highways I occasionally saw these birds running across the desert. It's impossible to photograph them in open wild because they are so hyper so fast. In Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum I got the opportunity to see them in captivity. Even in the cage they are still hyper and hardly stay still.
Not just desert weather

Rain gear during monsoon season (July/Aug) is important! Winter nights are cool, temps can and do drop below freezing. And if you're heading up to Kitt Peak for star gazing, bring all your cold weather gear; you'll need to bundle up. Sunscreen is crucial; AZ leads the nation in skin cancer cases.
With or without?

How do they measure the height of a skyscraper in Tucson? With or without the antenna on a top of it. What do you think?
As I know there are some skyscrapers in the USA which are proud to be taller than they really are :-))
Great for lunch
by blueskyjohn about Miss Saigon
The food at this little restaurant is great. It is a good place for lunch. The seating area is very small and there is a big take out demand. The service was very good and friendly.
The food is Vietnamese. My favorite dish is the Curry Chicken.
not just some nasty diner
by bocmaxima about The Grill
Sure the seats are ripped up. Sure the staff is tattooed and ultra-cynnical. Sure there are sometimes homeless people talking to themselves. But this has to be the true Tucson restaurant.
The Grill has survived where the rest of Downtown has not, becoming an icon for the hip, late night Congress crowd. It's one of those great diners where you can get pancakes and a beer at 8am or 11pm. And what about the food...
Walking into the place, you would expect the typical, greasy half-hearted diner fare. However, the menu reveals a plethora of unique pasta dishes, as well as interesting spins on the more traditional Americanisms. The Grill is truly one of those places where EVERYTHING is good.
There's live music some nights at the adjacent bar (although the doors to it are always open and the music is VERY audible), the beer selection is always interesting, the staff are always interesting and you're not going to get a better feel for Tucson's collective soul at any other diner (or maybe restaurant).
But the best part: The Grill basically never closes! Portabella Cap: portabella mushroom on a kaiser roll with hummus and cheese, lettuce, tomato and onions on the side. Served with fries, tots or mashed potatoes for $6.99.
