 | Tucson Hotels and Accommodations Reviews | 1 - 10 of 25 | | Tanque Verde Ranch is an all-inclusive ranch resort and there is always something to do!! All activities including horseback riding, riding lessons, hikiing, biking, swimming, tennis, etc., are included in one price. Our main activity at the ranch centered around the horses and riding, but we also took advantage of the indoor & outdoor pools, the mountain-biking, ping- pong, hikes, nature talks and walks, and of courses, the campfire cookouts and just plain sitting under the cottonwood trees. Although there is a TV Room at the range with a major-size TV, there are no TV's in rooms. Although a little difficult to get used to at first, the encourages everyone to make the most of the day time and night time activities outside of the rooms! Included in the price are three-delicious meals each day plus buffets served in the central hacienda-style dining room, and the scheduled, fantastic campfire cookouts at the Cottonwood Grove, and breakfast rides up to The Homestead. In my opinion, the food was always very good and plentiful, and the Easter Brunch was exceptional! The only exception was for wine, beer and soft-drinks all of which were optional and offered at different venues.
There are too wonderful features of the ranch to mention here. The children at the ranch seemed to be having the times of their lives! I especially enjoyed seeing how comfortable & confident the children were as they rode out on the trail every morning with their ponies, not a care in the world. We visited during Easter, and I thought it was very special that the "Easter Bunny" visited the ranch on horseback! The ranch even arranged an Easter Egg Hunt for the children on the front lawn and the squeals of delight rang from all quarters. We found our accommodations at Tanque Verde to be even better than expected. Because we belong to a vacation club, we used our "points" to reserve a "suite" for the 4 of us and it was so much more comfortable than a standard room. It would be better called a bungalow than a suite because our accommodations had everything but a kitchen which was not needed anyway since all our meals were included. However, the bungalow did have a coffeemaker, and fridge which we stored water and soft drinks in and occasionally a dessert we brought back from dinner! We had a large living area with a good-sized, oak table and 4 chairs, two easy chairs, 2 day beds serving as regular beds at night, and a large picture window overlooking a private patio. All this and a terrific fireplace too! There was also a very comfortable master bedroom with a king-size bed , 2 night-tables, a large dresser, nice size closet and----another fireplace! The bathroom was of good size and was stocked with large towels, and usual toiletries but with the thoughtful addition of SPF15 sunblock. There was daily maid service and towels, toiletries and coffee were generously restocked each day.
Our bungalow had a wonderful fireplace which we used each night thanks to the supply of mesquite wood left for guests who wished to use it. What a treat a roaring fire was at the end of the day--we sat there mesmerized by the glowing flames and drifted off to sleep more than once after an event-filled day! While the master bedroom also had a fireplace and we enjoyed the ambience of having it there, we only used the fireplace in the main room where all 4 of us could enjoy it! Looking out the front door of our bungalow one could see a pleasing landscape of cacti and cottonwood trees, happy with their surroundings, filled the air with their songs. In the morning you knew that you were only a short walking distance to breakfast or to the corrals to see the horses. It was the perfect habitat and a wonderful change from the normal hotel room found on most trips! In the last photo you will see our visitor which was waiting to greet us the first night! Chateau Sonata Apartments. At that time $1000.U.S. dollars, per month for April which is off season as the SNOWBIRDS ( Canadians who winter there ) have all gone home and the place is empty. You can bargain in April as it is off season. In the shopping centres there are free books with lodging information. Probably much more expensive today.

I've stayed here twice, both times when I was changing apartments. First off, this is a weekly rate hotel, meaning that you must stay at least a week and cannot just pay for one or two nights. This is in contrast to other weekly rate places like Crossland and Studio 6. This is also the only weekly rate hotel on the north side. All others are near the airport. The room size is okay. For whatever reason, I got the same room twice, and both times it had this strange smell, almost like some kind of smoked pork product, although it may have just been residual cigarette smoke. One of the benefits of this place is that it's pretty centrally-located. There's a Fry's (supermarket) less than a mile down Ina, a Target and Bookman's across the street from that, and lots of fast food and restaurants around. Costco is also close by on Thornydale. All in all, my two total weeks in that room were fine. The only bad experience was that I left some shirts hanging in the closet the second time when I checked out, returned two days later and the guy said he didn't know what I was talking about. I think he stole my shirts, but they were all from the thrift stores anyway, so whatever, right? This place is about the cheapest you can get though, and you don't get too much of the transient element like I've seen at Crosslands in the past.
Free, in-room internet, full cable TV, kitchenette, relatively clean. Good area, fine for walking around at night. Leave a Comment
