Month in Tucson

by ivansharon

My wife and I are planning to stay in Tucson for a month or 6 weeks in the February/March period next year. We would like to rent a condo or house in a nice, safe area of the city with a good access to shoping, restaurants, and cultural facilities. We would appreciate suggestions as to where should we be looking.
Thanks.

You'd probably be happier in the Foothills area. Northern Tucson: north of River, east of La Cholla. Otherwise, there are condos scattered throughout the Sam Hughes and El Encanto neighborhoods in Central Tucson near 5th/6th between Campbell and Alvernon.

Did she like Poland or what?

by matcrazy1

I was too late at Arisona Sonora Desert Museum (about 4:30 pm). Although the museum closed at 5 pm, they stopped to sell tickets at 4:00 pm. I started to talk with this park ranger on my picture and asked her to let us enter the museum - just for quick look around. She asked us where we were from. When I replied that from Poland... she let us enter the museum (for free :-). Thank you very, very much :-))))

Strange! A few minutes later I could see other visitors but they were not allowed to follow us.

Charming hilsside houses of Bisbee, Arizona

by jumpingnorman

Just 82 miles (132 km) southeast of Tucson, Bisbee is a charming nice town filled with Victorian and European-style homes perched miraculously on the hillsides, a lot of them unreachable by car. It was also a bit tricky for us going through the narrow streets and you wonder whether 2 cars will fit...or is it just one way? Fortunately, there were not too many cars driving around.

You will enjoy going through its many specialty shops, gourmet restaurants and bookstores.

In the May-June 2000, it was noted to be the most 'alive' places to retire in the U.S, and it was also a runner-up as one of the "quirkiest" towns in America. There is a test of physical endurance called The 1000-Stair Climb which is a five kilometer run through Bisbee that goes up and down 1,034 stairs! You think you can do that? The event has also grown to include the Ice Man Competition, designed to honor the history of men delivering blocks of ice by hand before the advent of refrigeration- the contestants race up 153 steps carrying an eight-pound block of ice with antique ice tongs! Now that one I cannot do!

Other interesting things in Bisbee include Copper Queen Mine , Phelps Dodge General Office Building (now the Bisbee Mining & Historical Museum), The Lavender Pit which is an inactive open pit mine site in the center of the city, Warren Ballpark built in 1909 and The Thomas Ranch from 1902 swhen Bisbee was inaugurated.

Rent a car in Tucson

by matcrazy1

No public transportation is available to or within either district of Saguaro National Park.

You must rent a car in Tucson to get there. Hmm... there are many car rental agencies in Tucson to choose from.

I didn't rent a car there I did rent my Buick Century at Budget rent a car agency in San Diego. And I was very satisfied about Budget. So, you can try to rent your car at Budget (6 locations including at Tucson Airport):

What a View of Golf Course

by Simonneeddy about Ventana Golf and Raquet Club

My first meal there was at the 'Ventana Golf and Racquet Club'. my son-in -law and daughter were members there. As you ate you could see the mountains and a part of the golf course also people teeing off.
This club has it all, hotel rooms, baby sitters for children, all types of exercise equipment and councillers.Beauty shop, massage parlor etc.
Great service. The view is excellent We had a light meal as it was early in the day. Salad and sandwich, but they have anything you want.
