Unique Quality: Great breakfast!!! Beatiful SUITES, really nice and big! Shampoo really scented, that's cool when you're like in a 'barbacue' as Tucson.

Cheap hotels in Tucson
I'm thinking of visiting a convention near the corner of Grant and Country Club lane. What sort of neighborhood is it? Where would the closest cheap hotels be?

I think it is a good neighborhood, varies from area to area in the same neighborhood. I know Country club and Prince which is close to Grant and it is very peaceful, quiet and beautiful spot. Full of mountain views.

Grant/Country Club isn't the best area, but it's not bad. It's a really busy corner because there are shopping centers everywhere. Grant is also one of the busiest streets in town and often difficult to navigate.
For motels, it depends on how cheap you want to go. Everything below $50 is by the interstate, which is pretty far from where you want to be. There is the Viscount Suites (3 miles away, Speedway@Swan, about $75/night) and Smuggler's Inn (4 miles away, Speedway@Wilmot, about $65/night), but probably your best bet is the Extended Stay (2 miles away, Grant@Swan, about $50/night).
If you don't mind being near the freeway, there are several hotels near Grant/I-10 like a Days Inn, Holiday Inn Express and Rodeway which are all over-priced. Motel 6's are just down the road for about $30/night.

Thanks to all who answered. It was a profitable trip.
We stayed at an Econo Lodge. And wished we hadn't. ( A half-box of stale donuts and a pot of weak coffee does NOT qualify as a 'continental breakfast'!!!!)
