More about Canyon Motel
Good Time at the Canyon Motel
We had a great time at the Canyon Motel. The owners, Shirley and Kevin, are very accomodating, friendly and fun. A big attraction with the kids was the owners dog, Kobe; half wolf, half chow.
The Canyon Motel is a great location to base your Arizona excursions. While there we visited the Williams Route 66 area, The Grand Canyon, Flagstaff, Slide Rock State Park, Sedona and Jerome.
If you are an early riser while the rest of the family sleeps, there are many photo ops in the woods around the Canyon Motel. We were there in the middle of July and there were still wildflowers in bloom.

The Caboose was great!
We just recently stayed in one of the caboose in the Canyon Motel, more specifically the suite#2 and we enjoyed it very much! It was a nice change from a hotel room and that it was another experience for my best friend visiting from England. She loved the bunk beds and the view from atop.
My only comment is the bed, it makes a noise everytime you turn or move on the bed, since we have a baby it was quite a nuisance while sleeping.
The place was great and we will surely consider staying there again.
Awesome setting, relaxing and fun
Our family stayed here for one night (Aug 7) in one of the caboose suites and totally loved it! Unique, memorable, well kept and clean! Our girls (ages 13 and 11) were thrilled with the bunk bed and the view from the top through the pop up section of the caboose ---and hubby and I liked the convenience of the fridge, microwave and coffeepot. Pool was inviting and clean. Terrific setting there amid the tall cool pines with the little sandstone cottages. Enjoyed our meal at Cruisers Cafe in Williams (good suggestion from Canyon Motel owner) along with the streetside gunfight re-enactment and the fun little shops with Rt 66 memorobilia. Great prices on souvenirs in shops. Delicious continental breakfast next morning. Would definately stay there again.
Our Stay Was Relaxing, Cozy & Friendly
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Canyon Motel! Shirley and Kevin, the owners, are very friendly and helpful. They will even make reservations to take the train to the Grand Canyon for you.
The rock cottages are so pretty, and their rooms are comfortable. They even have microwaves and small refrigerators. We toured the cabooses, which are adorable, and perfect for a family with children or for two couples. They have an indoor heated pool, community barbecues, and children's play area with swingset. The motel is located on 10 acres of pine woods. So even though you are on the outskirts of town, you can enjoy the quiet, relaxing woods behind the cottages. The continental breakfast was tasty, fresh, and generous.
Kevin and Shirley are working constantly to make improvements. They take great pride in their work. We will be returning as often as possible, and we encourage other travelers to stay and enjoy this vintage treat!
A Real Treat
On our trip to the Grand Canyon, we stayed in this small town named Williams. Most of the motels there are little strip motels, but we found this cute place with little cottages and actual train cars that you can stay in. The Canyon Motel was wonderful, we actually felt like we were in our own little cottage in the woods. There is a fire pit where people gather at night to talk, and BBQ's available so you can cook your own food. The people that run the place were very nice, and everyone enjoyed the indoor pool at night.
Summer of Fun 2004
We enjoyed our stay at the Canyon Motel. The staff is gracious and helpful and the Railroad Cars are fun to sleep in. Also, you're only 45 minutes from the Grand Canyon.
If you're tired of the same old motel room, these train cars are for you and your family.
We had family and friends from England and Texas with us, and stayed in two of the cars (one of them a caboose!!!). It was truly a great stop in our Summer of Fun 2004!
A lovely little motel
Just by chance we landed at the Canyon Motel and we were so grateful to finally stay in a motel on our trip that had charm and individuality after so many chains. The owners were friendly and helpful and we wished we could have stayed a whole week!
A Train Load of Fun and Great Memories
November 2004. From the moment we made our reservation, to the moment we left the Canyon Motel, our experience was superb! We are a family of four, with children ages 9 and 11. This trip was our first to the Grand Canyon. Without question, the Canyon Motel was a great way to start our adventure! Motel owners Kevin and Shirley were so friendly, outgoing, and helpful. They set us up in a fantastic CABOOSE suite, which was a dream come true for the kids! The children got to sleep in bunks in the cupola, which included a TV all to themselves. The suite was warm (it snowed outside!), cozy, and filled with fun railroad memorobilia. Outside, a creek ran through the property, which was surrounded by beautiful woods. You were so close to town, but still got the feeling of being away from the bustle. Although we did not get to use the indoor pool, it looked fun, too. At the time of placing our reservation, Kevin and Shirley arranged for our train tickets to the Grand Canyon. Upon our arrival, they gave us all sorts of "pointers" and discount coupons, including the wonderful advice to see the awe-inspiring IMAX Grand Canyon film! This motel has character and a great feeling. We loved it! To this day, our kids are still talking about the CABOOSE!
HEAVEN ON EARTH
Me and my husband stayed at The Canyon on 3/5/05 for our 2nd anniversary . The hospitality was amazing, and the room was awesome! I will not stay at any other place on our next trip to Williams. We were in total heaven, and plan to go back many more times!
All Aboard the Caboose!
After finding this unique lodging on Tripadvisor, we booked both cabooses and another room for our party to sleep after our Polar Express ride. What a great experience for the kids! The caboose my family stayed in had bunks for the three kids, and a queen bed for my husband and I. The kids loved the novelty of sleeping in the caboose, and it made great photo opportunities! The location is slightly out of town (but not far) with a stream and wooded area that the kids enjoyed exploring. We would be glad to return to the Canyon Motel.
