Prisoners
by matcrazy1
There are interested stories of prisoners shown in some cells as you can see on my picture.
A.A. Steward sentenced to 15 years for assault with intent to commit murder. Escaped from a prison (succesfully) on 30 Nov 1900 - he digged a whole in a cell.
What did they use barrels for?
by matcrazy1
Did they use barrels to store wine/beer in Yuma Territorial Prison? Hmm... rather not. Prisoners were surely not allowed to drink it. Guards? Who knows, although they would die after drinking more booze in hot, hot, hot summer (over 100F usually).
So? They used barrels to store water for drinking and washing, I suppose.
Mines and Equipment
by Basaic
Since mining was the whole reason for Castle Dome to exist. The museum has a nice collection of mining equipment. Photo 1 is a 16 foot deep silver and galena pit mine. Photos 2 and 3 show ore cars and tracks. Photo 4 and 5 are of various other mining equipment.
Cantina
by Basaic
The cantinas, in addition to serving drinks, also served food. This is a recreation of one of the cantinas. Although no mention was made of it at the museum, no doubt some of the cantinas also offered some feminine companionship.
Church on former Mission site
by gubbi1
On the site of the Mission La Purísima Concepción you can visit a beautiful church. I did not get in, but I think the style of the church is really beautiful. There are some liquid tanks behind (don't know if water or oil) which disturb the view a little, but nevertheless it is worth to have a look!
