Diamond John's Riverside Retreat: Camping out in Tipis

My girlfriend and I were on an extended weekend from Texas to Arkansas; stopped for an overnight stay in the tipis at Diamond Johns. John was very nice, welcoming, and accommodating to our needs. The tipi was OK, really unique, and about as clean as you could expect for a tipi. We arrived with the attitude that this was "camping out", so we really were not displeased. Not only were we camping out, but the bed was comfortable, the heater and microwave worked well, and the TV had plenty of channels (so much for camping out). Yes, the cats did hang around looking for a free meal and a pass into the tipi, but I made them "unwelcome" and they didn't bother us.
All in all, this was a good place to stay. Not really fancy, and you must remember that this is "camping out" in tipis. If you're looking for the Hyatt Regency, you need to look elsewhere.

A quiet place sitting right on the bank of the Little Missouri River. Diamond John's is just a couple of minutes from the entrance to Crater of Diamonds State Park. The scenery is really beautiful; fishing and kayaking gear provided free. Diamond hunting screens, shovels, etc., are provided at no cost in case you want to run to the nearby Crater of Diamonds State Park for a little treasure (diamond) hunting.
