Super 8 Bentonville: Decent Budget Hotel in Bentonville

by Basaic

This is a fairly neat, clean and modern hotel. It had the typical "Superstart" breakfast and a few extras in the room. Service was unremarkable. The downside was their Wifi never worked. I stayed here en route to Pea Ridge National Military Park.

There is a nice Denny's Diner next door.

Wig Wam Motel: A step back in time

by sabogg01

We arrived here around 7PM to see the sun setting. It was beautiful. All of the old cars added to the ambiance of the Wig Wams. I could imagine being here in another time when visitors were plentiful and this was a top notch establishment.
There was no internet access but that did not bother me. There were no fancy amenities but then again that is not why we stayed here. If you come to this motel expecting a step back in time and not something modern then you will be pleased. Very clean on the inside and much roomier than we were expecting. Loved the benches outside. Would definitely stay here again and in fact we are planning a weekend trip soon to the Wig Wam motel in Kentucky :)

AMERICA'S BEST VALUE INN: N. LITTLE ROCK

by LoriPori

Wednesday, September 23, 2009
Today we drove from Cave City Kentucky along I-65 south. At Nashville we got onto the I-40 west, went through Memphis, Tennessee and then on to Little Rock Arkansas, where we stayed for the night. Checking my Room Saver Coupon Book, we decided on AMERICA'S BEST VALUE INN with a coupon price of $33.95. The Motel was just OK and did not offer any continental breakfast. The room could have been a little cleaner, but hey, it was just a place to sleep.
Room Saver Motel Coupon Books are available at State Welcome Centers and rest areas and rooms are based on availability.

Queen Wilhelmina State Park Campground: Mountain Camping

by Basaic

A nice place to stay and get away from the summer heat is the Queen Wilhelmina State Park Campground. The views are great and it is much cooler than down in the vallies. There is a great lodge and restaurant nearby too. I did not camp here just enjoyed the park.

Motel 6: Great Budget Motel in West Helena

by Basaic

This was a very new and nice Motel 6. They had more ammenities than most Motel 6s, like a small refrigerator and microwave, and a nice pool. Everything was new and clean and worked fine. There appeared to be a public housing area next door and a few of the people from it used the pool but they didn't bother anybody.

Horizon Inn & Suites: Decent Budget Accomodations in Pine Bluff

by Basaic

The first two places I stopped in Pine Bluff had no vacancies and rude desk clerks. Then I spotted the Horizon Inn & Suites. I went in and asked about a room. They had vacancies and the desk clerk was polite (although I suspect she was an illegal immigrant from Mexico). The room was fairly basic but clean enough and everything worked. It was also less expensive than the other rooms would have been. It is worth a try.

Wolf Pen Gap Campground: Not quite "roughing it"

by am&pm

This campground, tucked away off County Rd 61 about 15 miles outside Mena, is definitely designed for the ATV'er in mind. It offers sites for tents and RV's and has one-room A-frame cabins with electricity but no bathrooms (you use the common ones). There are also a few more upscale cabins with bathrooms and an additional loft for another bed. The campsites are, for the most part, stony and bumpy, but each has a water pump and an electric outlet which makes the camping trip that much more practical. Given the summer heat and humidity, it was nice to be able to have a fan in the tent!

There is a small store there that supplies some of the basics you might need while camping, including ice which is available on a honor system---you get what you need and pay when the store is open. We were also able to get goggles and gloves there for the trails. The group campsite rate for us was $15/night/tent. Single campsites went for $2 more.

There are no great views from here but, after noise curfew at 10pm, the place is very peaceful and all there is to keep you awake is the persistent song of the mockingbirds. Trail access starts from the campground so you don't have to haul your ATV"s by trailer from there---a great convenience. Because of the State Forest surroundings, you get many beautiful views and scenery on the trails. A small river runs on the periphery of the camp and the kids loved splashing and floating in it. I have to say, too, that the bathrooms, although not fancy, were clean and well-kept. There was one bathroom we called the "deluxe" because it was the only public bathroom which had toilet, sink and shower in one private setting with plenty of elbow room.

Arlington Resort Hotel and Spa: Best Hotel in Hot Springs

by Astrobuck

Absolutely wonderful. Sure, the place has been around since the 1920's, and is very well known. This place is probably THE best place to stay in Hot Springs. It has 11 floors (Floor 11 is restricted for "special" guests...we figured out the code to access it from the elevator, but found the 11th floor really wasn't that great). Thre is a spa, where you get pampered with a hot whirlpool bath, sauna, nice shower, and a massage. The staff is VERY friendly, and truly want your stay to be great. The hotel is FULL of history, and they have pictures and artifacts outlining the Arlington's past. The lobby is a real happening place. I am not kidding. If you love being social, this is where you want to be. Dancing and drinking at the bar until whenever. Live bands perform, and many folks from all walks of life stay here.

Now that I've mentioned the pros, here are the cons:

The building really needs some work. Seriously. Moulding on the hallway walls pulling away revealing wiring, the walls are paper-thin, so you can hear "extra-curricular activities" going on next door (We never heard any thank goodness), and our view out the window was the black-top roof complete with soda bottles, old D-cell batteries, and pieces of stucco plaster scattered all about. If it weren't for the nice flowery walkway nestled against the mountainside, I would have complained more.

All in all, if you wish to take a visit to Hot Springs, the Arlington is DEFINATELY where you will want to stay. TRUST ME. The entire town is right smack in the middle of a makeover, and the other only really nice motel in town, the Majestic, is closed down COMPLETELY for renovations.

Pointe West Motel and Suites: Off the beaten Path - Awesome View!

by pointewestmotel

This place has been around since 1985. It was super popular initially - but somehow lost it's way.

But, it's making a come back now - the new owners are starting to spruce things up! The rooms have been updated, there are now fridges and micros in every room. They are surveying customer wants to evolve where they go from here.

You can't beat this little find. It's not the Ritz - but it's one of those rare finds that you just can't believe you stumbled on to!

There have grilles available so you can bring your own food and not leave that gorgeous view.

WOW - cross beaver dam and come around the bend and behold the awesome view of Beaver Lake!

If you like scuba - there's a fully equiped shop across the road also.

Across the street is the fire department where the ladies auxiliary ladies hold an aerobics class on MWF. And I can tell you - they whipped my butt!

When I say road - it's all out in the natural settings - plenty of campgrounds.

Couple Northwest Arkansas nature with the adventure of hiking to find their swimming holes and you have an awsome trip!
