Riverfront Park
by soundsgoodtome
The Arkansas River runs through Little Rock, and it wouldn't be right if the city didn't have a park along the river downtown, which it does on both sides of the river. On the downtown side the riverpark begins by the Clinton Library and continues up to the convention center and hotels, and maybe further. However, I was a bit disappointed with the park for several reasons.
The Riverpark for the most part was not really a park but just a Riverwalk because there was nothing to do except walk on the sidewalk or lay in the grass. There was a very small playground and a few historical markers here and there, but nothing more. The grassy areas were not flat or very large, so it might be hard to try to play ball or something of that sort.
The biggest surprise was that walking in the park on a beautiful Saturday afternoon it was nearly deserted, to the point where it almost didn't seem safe. There was trash and graffiti along some of the concrete walls down by the water. Lastly, there were a few benches here and there, but no picnic tables or anything else. I guess the reason nobody goes there is because there is nothing to do and once you see it once, you dont care to again.
The picture shows a small part of the riverpark from the north side of the river. The big blue tent is where the ampitheatre is located, but the public restrooms beside it were all locked!
Shorty Small's
by Bostephenson about Shorty Small's
Shorty's is housed within a building that looks like its about to fall down. However, that's all part of the atmosphere. Once inside, there are all sorts of fun decorations. It serves as both a bar and a restaurant. It's good for kids too, but equally a great place for adults. Special note, on Sundays those who are there at noon when liquor is legal to sell again can purchase mimosas and mint julips for under $1 each. Additionally, while Shorty's is a chain now, it is worth noting that this is where it all started... Without a doubt, the chicken fingers. However, when dining in groups, might I suggest the Macho Nachos?
Little Rock - Great Town to Visit!
by saraheg77
"Close to one of my best friends!"
Usually when I am in Little Rock, it is with my friend Amanda or on the way to her house. She lives about an hour's drive from Little Rock and it is the largest city close to her. She's made me run a couple of half marathons there and she also works in a fun museum there. It is a great city with a variety of fun things to see and do!
Little Rock, Arkansas
by John_P_LSU
Little Rock is a fine city with enough to see to spend at least a weekend. I go to Arkansas often for outdoor recreation and LSU Football games and I usually fly into Little Rock and travel from there. But, I make it a point to see something new in Little Rock each time.
Pictures and info coming soon....
